I'd like to make an appeal, /alpha/, just like other appeals are being made at the end of this year.
This board is somewhat unique in the world of anonymous imageboards; I can think of only one other board like it, and it was inactive last time I checked. It is rare to see a forum dedicated to self-improvement in general in this sphere.
And, it's also rare to see a forum dedicated to self-improvement that gives the privilege of posting anonymously. It doesn't take a lot of thinking to figure out the advantage of this: when you have an identity on a forum, and it's full of people trying to be alpha, they can start to fight to try to be an alpha amongst alphas. Here, you have no reputation to try to establish, so your ideas stand or fall on their own, and there's no distraction of trying to gain esteem among the pack.
I'm not appealing for money, of course, though it may be a good idea to throw some toward the operation of ∞chan. (I'm not even the board owner of /alpha/.) What I would like to see is for our few readers to prize the uniqueness of our venue here, and contribute in posts! Of course we want to avoid two things, low-quality posts, and cancer, and it may not even be a good idea for the board to get very popular as fewer good posters would be more valuable than many mediocre ones, but I'd like for people to consider that if they were waiting for a reason to try to get them to find something quality to post and post it, here it is!
Thank you all.

I feel ya... the board is still young though, it's gonna take time to build it up and get the word out.
Any ideas for how we can increase our readership and contributors?

>>122I'm not really an expert, but I think if the content here is really quality, if it looks like every thread has something good in it and there are enough of them, the right people will "stick". I think a lot of people use the random button, and /alpha/ is the kind of place that is valuable to a certain kind of person if the signal/noise ratio is good. People start alpha-type threads in /b/ too and without trying to hijack those threads you could just tell people that if they're interested there is moar liek this in /alpha/.

I thought of something that might promote the board during these next few days. You may find a lot of people talking about new year's resolutions in the next week. We all know that they often require a sustained effort in order to achieve. If someone expresses a desire to stay on track, why not bring them here, where we discuss resolutions all year around? A word of note, though, because I never know who's out there: there's no need to try to move the initial discussion here, because I think people might get annoyed with that; instead, just let them know that if they want to discuss the topic past "resolution season", or discuss the specific techniques of goal achievement in finer detail than the more casual threads, /alpha/ is here.
