>SL: What's your one biggest tip for stopping procrastination?
>TP: One of my pet expressions is "Just get started." And it’s important you don’t say "Just do it" — that’s overwhelming. But just get started.
>Whenever we face a task, we’re not going to feel like doing it. Somehow adults believe that their motivational state has to match the task at hand. We say, "I’m not in the mood."Basically, what do you do once you've made your plans and decided what needs to happen? Well, you can just ask yourself, "How can I get started?" and jump right in. Just think of any part and get going.
An amazing thing tends to happen, which is that once you've picked a starting place, the rest of the activity just seems to flow.

A really good tip, and basically a core idea in Getting Things Done, where you "bucket" your things you want to do, and then regularly figure out the next task(s) for all of them. Then you've got a whole list of things you can have fun knocking off - it's all figured out what to do next, and you can just flip through and figure out what's most important. The author describes that feel when you look at your goals and projects in the large and they seem enormous and you just freeze up - figuring out that next thing to do greases the wheels quite a bit.
