Does anyone here keep a journal? I recently started one for tracking my progress -- nothing fancy, just a cheap notebook -- and I'll be damned if it's not a great problem-solving tool too. It's also great for venting and whining about life without having to bother other people with my shit.

I highly recommend keeping a journal.

I do, but I'd recommend typing it on the computer and encrypting it so no one else can read it.

It also makes the "tracking progress" aspect of it easier because you can search for certain words that have to do with what you're tracking easier.

What do you use to encrypt/backup your journal?

I use TrueCrypt (this is discontinued though) to encrypt it. I guess people could easily use Bitlocker to create an encrypted file container and put it in there because it comes with Windows.

I don't back it up, but once it was in an encrypted container file you could just put it in a Dropbox account, I suppose.
