What martial art is the best to learn for general self-confidence that you can throw down on the streets?

I'm thinking krav maga, or brazilian jiu-jitsu?

>krav maga
yeah if you consider kicks to the balls and hair pulls and other pussy shit as decent self defense

For defense purposes kenpo or daito ryu aikijujutsu would be good, systema (the spetsnaz one) or sambo is bretty gud too. Did aikido before wish I did kenpo instead though. Boxing is always good in street fight situations. Really depends on what you want from martial arts, as becoming good in any martial art will give you good confidence.

Return of Kings has an article that says that Karate is the most beta martial art:

>After much reflection on this, I have come to conclude that karate and similar eastern martial arts as practiced in the west have become exhibitionist LARPing for hand-flapping retards whose technique and methods are of little use in a real fight.

I don't have much of an opinion as I haven't studied any in great detail.

No love for Muay Thai? Though, you want to choose your instructors carefully. Unfortunately there's lot of substandard gyms out there

BTW, a great resource if you ever want to take a trip to Thailand to train http://www.muaythaischolar.com/
