All he's done so far is save a single town. Not even a big town, or a severely threatened town facing major danger. Just some podunk town with a few knights and then later a few wizards, none of whom were the slightest threat to our dear skeleton,.
Biggest accomplishment so far was joining a guild, which considering how crazy powerful he is, is still a tiny event. We've got some rubbish complaint about how they have no money, but the village elder already said that their gold was worth their weight in gold anyway, so obviously they could easily melt down the gold, and sell it as bars. However, so far, he seems to be detached from other people, and it feels as though he just doesn't care one way or the other.
Even when he saved that village, he didn't seem to do it to save the village so to speak, he just remembered what a friend once said, and did it for that friend.

>he could easily just murder them all
Great point. Exactly the line of thinking he should have if he wants to prove he's not a sociopath to us. Nobody should bat an eye at murdering a village you were trying to save.
1) You don't automatically assume, just because you destroyed some level 1 wimps in the middle of nowhere, that you're the strongest thing alive. At this point he still doesn't know what's out there. Resurrection is guaranteed to draw unwanted attention from the most powerful forces around.
1a) Even if he's the most powerful thing around he doesn't have time to babysit this village. Any unwanted attention drawn to him for resurrection will also be drawn to this village. Watch it get burned to the ground by religious crusaders while he's busy somewhere else. Kind of defeats the purpose of bringing people back if they'll just die again because of it.
2) You don't expect peasants in the middle ages to understand something so completely unexpected and powerful as resurrection. Some powerful shadowy figure you only just met raises everyone from their graves? Holy shit they're zombies! They're under evil control! They'll turn us too! Even after he directly saved the village they didn't trust him and needed to believe he was after something. Maybe he can minimize this by explaining beforehand, getting them to promise loyalty to him or something.
3) It's already a bit of a joke how he's tossing so many of these powerful items around like candy. Just how many resurrection items does he have? Is it endless? It'd be one hell of a waste to use your resurrection on strangers in the middle of nowhere if it becomes necessary to protect your home or keep yourself alive.
4) He doesn't even know what it will do. He was surprised when he found out his undead knight spell took control of a recently killed enemy. The magic here is similar but not exact. For all he knows, the raised villagers will be soulless ghouls who only exist to obey him. That's a rough truth to spring on people if you got their hopes up, and even worse to spring on people if they weren't expecting it.
5) He can just resurrect them later, when he's resolved or prepared for any issues. There's no rush.
He has plenty of reasons not to do it, which can be summed up with "it's too much trouble" if you don't want to spend an entire episode going into it.

Probably close enough to endless that it doesn't matter. Ainz was always overly cautious and paranoid, and spent years grinding to keep Nazarik going. Plus he had a shitty PvP build. So he overthinks and overplans and overkills everything.
The show is cutting a lot of the material from the LN, of course, but it really isn't doing a good job of showing the audience just how paranoid Papa Bones is.

It's episode 8 now, and still nothing interesting has happened. We've got an army of undead at the gates, and still it's not done interestingly. Instead they basically just waltz over to the chiefs and postpone the fight for next episode.
So far every major fight has been a cakewalk that wasn't even worth caring about anyway. At the very least, if you're going to have an all-powerful antagonist, you can use a few odd other means of risks and interests to make it seem like its intense.
This show feels like its set up to be something of a political type of thing instead, like Maoyuu was. Basically, all-powerful wizard pops up with a bunch of monsters and shit, builds his own country, has to work for a long while to make everyone not be totally freaked out by the monsters by say giving folk tech and crap, maybe throw in a plot of other players or some shit who're the same way doing the same thing in other countries, and now you've got shit actually happening.

Gathering knowledge about the world first hand is going to be pretty important if skeltal doesn't want to waste resources, the value of which in the world he's been sent to is still mostly unknown. He'd have to make sure that the servants don't fuck up too badly so that he can win the trust of his neighbours and it'll be easier to do so by going in first and then assigning everyone commands based on something better than guesswork while taking into account the political situation without having to babysit all of them at the same time. This minimizes the need to micromanage and is arguably a matter of opinion too, after all he could risk causing more chaos and gather knowledge faster with a network of spies.
It's already been shown though that skelly isn't really the sharpest tactical mind around and sitting on his ass all day is only going to waste his potential so he might have to make up for his shortcomings by advancing with consistency and care.
But really, if watching bones rek things with mmo knowledge in a familiar-yet-alien world doesn't get you excited then I'm only left wondering how you've not yet jumped ship. I know I'm getting kicks from anticipating what his next moves might be and when dangerous unknown factors are going to rear their ugly head.
Also yeah things definitely do advance slowly, it's the first thing I warn people of when recommending this show to them. I just don't personally mind it.

Before the fight with the necromancers, we note he didn't use his resurrection item on villagers, and we note that he had slaughtered a divine being. The buildup with the necromancers was more demonstration of MC being stronger than anything in this world. The fight and aftermath was to build on his loss of humanity and emotion by highlighting his willingness to kill people in brutal inhumane ways without a second thought. This continues, as he later ruthlessly kills a fellow adventurer for the crime of coming with him to fight an unknown threat. He could have deceived the adventurer in some way instead, but didn't even consider it or care.
All of the drama is internalized between the main character and his NPCs. Their interaction with the outside world is nothing more than a way to demonstrate their thoughts and attitudes. Specifically, MC embodies the cruelty that results from being inconsiderate and powerful. Just as a person will swat a bug without second thoughts, a God swats a human. All this buildup and development would work well as part of a larger story on a massive scale, where he's confronted by powers strong enough to challenge him and forced to consider how he's changed as a person and if that's a good thing. Instead we're left with the first small portion of a slow story.
But that over-analysis is the wrong approach. We should instead masturbate to the idea of running away from our real lives to become all-powerful Gods who can destroy our enemies.
