Honestly any time one of you guys says that Samachan is like 8/a/ or 4/a/ I really have to wonder if you've ever spent any time there. I've been going for about two months now and I've never felt the stifling shit of 4/a/ or 8/a/. There are some of those people there, but they're a minority and really nobody gives a shit if they get mad.
There was a brief period after Hiroyuki took over 4chan that a bunch of /a/ rejects tried to enforce "/a/ culture" on Samachan, but they failed significantly and nobody there gave a shit.
With that being said though, Samachan is more 4chan in regards to the userbase themselves(but not mentality), as that's how I found it, and the admin said once he had never been on 8chan, but I do see /am/ posters all the time, so I'd say we're a big minority there as well, if not a majority with some of the posts I see.

>You could argue that samachan is slightly more "serious" overall, but I really don't think /am/ and them are all that different. There aren't really any posts on either that I think would stand out if they were moved to the other.
I feel like this too. A lot of their threads or posts would be deleted on 4chan or 8/a/ for "shitposting". The /am/ of the beginning might not have fit in, but I don't really see anyone posting Spurdo anymore or stealing memes as we've got our own culture, so I think that /am/ would do fine on samachan

>Wewf. They said that at first, but it never went anywhere. It more or less amounted to "We won't ban you for making a japanese bird thread every now and then, we swear!"
Think they only said that because they want to seem like epic oldfags who remember the split. They could not handle the pure funposting of /jp/ and their "meidos" would start killing themselves if any large number of /jp/ started /jp/ posting there
sorry for the wall of text, i like samachan and think you guys should give it a chance since i have as much fun posting there as i do here
