Not sure how much attention the rest of you have been paying to what's been happening on the rest of 8ch.
Basically, we're being raided by an outside chan. They've been trying to turn users against board owners by spamming anime images then spamming more about how the mods are rulecucks. From there, either new boards are created, or existing ones cooped and an effort is made to drive users to the new boards. /v/, /pol/ and /sp/ have all been major targets, with /leftypol/ possibly being next. Honestly, the whole thing smells a lot like what happened a while ago on here with the nazi spammer and /am/, but they might try it again with more force.
I didn't post this on the actual board because of the no meta rule, but hopefully at least some of you see this, especially the board owner or one of the mods. More info can be found here:

I left 4chan for 8chan because I grew tired of the arbitrary of the mods. They didn't hesitate to ban you for vague reasons, because they disliked you, because you said something that was forbidden on today's list of buzzword, or for any other number of sad causes. And I think I did right. All the board of fullchan are far more tightly moderated.
Save /a/. Right now, fullchan /a/ is the only boards where I feel the same arbitrariness, because its mod is a self-righteous prick who sincerely believe his opinion is the only one valid. He's everything that is wrong with /a/. He's the very definition of the autistic attention whore, who does it for the vague thrill of power and the idea that he's Just and Right under the sky. And he just created a board where we can safely discuss about Him all day and why He's (indeed) right.
And the worse? He's basically convinced of his worth. That's the only way to have a better board is to ban anybody he doesn't like. Because, well, he doesn't like them, and he's objective, so that means they are bad people, isn't it? That's 4chan thinking right here. And he doesn't see why this is wrong.
/a/ has become consistently worse as an easily predictable result. And, as its quality tumble down, I find myself caring less and less.

I agree with the other moderations in that thread, but deleting the poster who links to MAL was unnecessary. It says nowhere in the rules that linking to MAL is illegal, and I do not think it is the mods' job to enforce board culture. It's not like he was promoting MAL or saying, "Here, come check out my MAL list", he was just linking to resources about the specific anime he was talking about. MAL is like an anime encyclopedia so I think using it for that purpose is ok.

4/a/'s hatred for anything 8chan
They hate us but it's misguided hate. I was part of the first exodus to 8chan and don't even play video games or participate in /v/. I just got tired of the mods and 8chan was a chance to leave that place. It's really a shame that they hate us so much.
Mods are really soft on /a/ now compared to when they were before the first exodus. It's not because they suddenly care. It's because they don't want a rebellion. If /a/ rebelled like /v/, /jp/, /pol/ and /sp/ that would be a big problem for 4chan. But I'm not going to let their softness lure me in because I don't want to go back there.
Tensions I think will be high between 4/a/ and the moderation in the coming future. But the moderation will be like loving babysitters and go into damage control should any problems happen. Moderation fucked up other boards but they stopped themselves just in time for /a/ before it became too late. They only realized that after ruining several other boards and causing a mass migration to 8chan.
They don't even know that 8chan is the only thing right now preventing moderation from bringing down the hammer on them.

I've seen some threads that were anime related simply deleted for no reason. There was a thread about anime dubs with Ghost Stories in the OP and that was deleted despite the thread going nicely. /a/s mods seriously need to stop deleting shit just because they don't like it, the board is already slow enough as is.

I've been watching this board for a while now, and I've noticed a few patterns in the arguments and their flaws. There seem to be a number of people on here who don't actually browse 8/a/ who are advocating everyone goes back to 4/a/. Sometimes, this strategy actually works and people go back to the original board. The two main reasons listed seem to be perceived quality and speed. 8/a/ is far slower than 4/a/, this is absolutely true, but I think plenty of evidence has been presented to show that statistically the board isn't really getting any slower. I submit that this board eats users by focussing their attention on obsessing over the speed more than they otherwise would care, but that's an issue for another thread.
The real issue is the quality. I've seen some screencaps indicating that the quality on 8/a/ has been dropping, and I think they're probably right. I've seen users throw up their hands and say

But it's not like 4/a/ is actually doing better. In fact, as we can see from threads like https://archive.moe/a/thread/125873501 and https://archive.moe/a/thread/125711407 the exact same complaints you're seeing about it here on /ameta/ are also cropping up over there. I think it's a case of the grass always being greener on the other side, and submit that BOTH /a/'s are having the exact same thing happen to them, here or there is a false dichotomy.
Something is very wrong with the /a/ community as a whole, I don't understand what but jumping around sites searching for the silver bullet isn't the answer. We need to identify what the problems are and what countermeasures could be used, and it mustn't be in the form of bickering about the 4/a/ vs. 8/a/ dichotomy or we'll never get anywhere.
/a/ is a community, not a website, and I think most here have lost sight of that. It is a BAD thing if 4/a/ goes under, it is a BAD thing if 8/a/ goes under, it is a BAD thing if fufufu goes under, it is a BAD thing if ANY instance of /a/ goes under. It really looks like we might be on the verge of losing the core spirit of /a/ indefinitely, and we really need to work together on this to prevent that from happening.
Can we please have IDs enabled. It would greatly detract the shitpost count as casual users wouldn't go through the process of switching up their proxy and posting under an ID.
We'd have users to blame per thread and call them out for their behavior.
I normally don't post on /a/ for the very fact there aren't IDs, seeing as the lack of them encourages people to samefag while creating a false dichotomy.

8chan is not at prime time yet, that will happen when the rewrite is completed. Right now the board software has some issues that will put people off.
4chan /a/ has a much higher opinion of itself than it deserves, the board is mostly shitposting but having a good morale about it is ok. The elitism is largely in their minds.
/a/ is one of the pillars of 4chan, if /a/, /v/, /b/ and /pol/ are shaken then the whole of 4chan is, unfortunately /a/ was one of the boards least shaken by recent events.
You need all the users you can get. 4chan got to where it was today due to lax rules, I'm not saying it should be a shitposting free for all but a balance.
90% of the problems are due to smaller userbase, 8chan needs more users. Even if the moderation was terrible more users would balance it out.
4chan has a massive advantage, the user base is mostly under control and they are free to spread negative memes about you while you can not refute them on their home ground due to heavy censorship.

I think the problem with a lot of boards on 8chan is they're big enough to be active, but too small to have their own culture.
/v/ and /pol/ are their exceptions, they are big enough to be active and have their own culture, which for better or for worse, is distinct from 4chan.
/a/ feels like a collection of people who used /a/, who want to be an /a/, but there's nothing differentiating it from /a/. It's just small /a/.
I guess this means that the best boards are the boards that pop up for a week and die, like /redchanit/ and /bane/, or otherwise fill a niche. /weebpol/ fits in this category as filling a niche, but unfortunately there's not enough boards that fill a niche for otaku hobbies.
I think the solution is to have threads that make the board feel a little more like a community instead of just a smaller /a/. Not meta threads/shitposts, but like anon's idea down below of a hunger games contest with /a/ related themes, r/a/dio is another good example. Stuff that makes it feel distinct from 4chan or any other website's weeb board.

I'm not here to make my unban request going faster (and honestly it's a 1 day ban, I can wait), I'm here because of the following questions :
1. Why am I banned while I did not break any rules ?
2. Even if it was a rule, why directly a ban and not a simple warning at first ?
3. Why my post has been deleted ? I wasn't even shitposting, it was an OC on the "Write an anime plot" thread (and I can copy past it here if needed, because hopefully I saved it on my laptop before posting).
4. If I'm true and it's possible to deactivate tripcode, why not activate this option ?
5. If it has been decided somewhere that tripfagging is forbidden, why isn't it on the rules ? Enforcing a rule which isn't displayed isn't the good way to do.

I'd like to have answers, because I don't want 8ch /a/ to become as shitty as halfchan/a/. That's also why I made a thread on /ameta/ about it here instead of just using the appeal function, to have the answers publicly available.
From the few I know meido-sama is a good guy who think before act, maybe it's a board volunteer who made this ban, but I have nothing to prove (or invalidate) this.

I think we need some anime board of our own where meta cancer is encouraged and we can post "Cross ange is EPIC since Sjw hate it, and BOOBIES!". I suggest /animegate/, or # fansubgate. we can also dig up dox on anime reviewers or herkz
The alternative is, we could use /weebpol/, but I do not think any of us wants weebpol to be cluttered with gooblyguck garbage.
