I'm beginning to agree with this post >>975. If you want a hangout board for you and your friends that's cool. But this is supposed to be /a/. I'd think you'd have a little more respect for that name than this. You're hostile, unprofessional, and seemingly trying to impose your views on everyone. This is supposed to be a fun board. How can people have fun when they have to tiptoe around what is and isn't bannable today?

This isn't halfchan/a/. It will never be what /a/ was. The past is the past and you should hold onto the old stereotypes and make this a prejudiced "Oldboy's club" that kicks out anyone who doesn't know every old meme taboo.

Yes, we all hate seeing certain types of bullshit. I hate people using the smug face. Not because they're being smug, but because it really emphasizes how dumb they are. But if I was running /a/ I wouldn't ban people for doing it. Because /a/ is more than you. It's more than me. It's all of us. And we all have to get along or we won't have a home anymore.

So please. Write up a definitive set of rules, not based on your personal preferences, but for what's best for the board, and stick to it. Give 10 second warning bans explaining why they're being banned. You'd be amazed how little work you'd have to to if the most relevant rule being broken wasn't just labeled "shitposting" And you even made a 2a "I trust the users to understand what shitposting is. I cannot begin to teach you board etiquette, so if you have any doubts, I suggest you lurk more and familiarize yourself with it." Really? Why even bother saying anything. Do you know how this reads to me? "We can ban you for no reason"

Don't expect people to know what you consider shitposting. Lurking won't help people all the posts are deleted anyway. If you have to ban leave it public so other's can learn.

The problem isn't shitposting bans, the problem is the mod's definition of shitposting never includes actual shitposting and they just ban anyone being negative, like the guy you're mentioning who was "derailing" (having a conversation in) a shit imagedump thread.

And half the front page is pointless booru dump threads right now while those were never tolerated on /a/, and yet the miyazaki thread was deleted for "not /a/" despite miyazaki being a major influence on anime, part of anime culture, and DEFINITELY part of japanese culture, which would make it fit under the "/jp/ is allowed" rule.

So the mod here doesn't understand /jp/ either, the mod thinks /jp/ was all about the which 2hu wud u fug shitpost threads and AWOO.

The mod defends shitposting at every turn and bans actual content. Like the /v/ here, the mod that seized power was actually a shitposter all along that doesn't fit the board they moderate at all.

I don't think that guy was ever banned though. Also the rules do state meta goes on this board.

What the fuck are you talking about you faglord?

I don't really have a problem with deleting shitposting or terrible crap. 4ch/a/ mods do it too so you have no right to complain, the difference is those mods often mod in corrupt ways or enforce board culture to cover up other corruption. The maidpeople here leave board culture alone and only delete real shitposting or thread derailments. Sometimes they mess up in my opinion like banning the guy who said he's from /pol/ and they got a backlash for it. When you ban someone who doesn't see himself as the bad guy/shitposter expect retaliation. I think most bans people get they will know exactly what posts they got banned for before they see it. If you know what post banned you then it is a fair ban.

Not just that, but they only delete threads and posts that have been reported. I haven't heard anything about them doing it for free yet. If OP wants to change what shitposting is on /a/, he needs to take the converstation to the /a/nons themselves since they're the ones that list 'shitposting' in their reports.

They've been more bad calls lately than there used to be, but I think that's because the new maids are just new, and they'll start being more cautious the more we bitch at them about it and threaten to wake up and rape the maids.

>How can people have fun when they have to tiptoe around what is and isn't bannable today?
By lurking. This was never exclusive to /a/.

>It will never be what /a/ was.

Of course. But we don't want a "modernized" /a/,/v/,/pol/ fusion.

>>1005
>So please. Write up a definitive set of rules
First off, nobody reads the sticky. Secondly, it would only cater to absolute newfag pieces of shit like yourself. Thirdly, there are already a rules sticky with everything you want there to be in.

>We can ban you for no reason

Lurking isn't done overnight. In fact, it used to be a minimum of a full fucking year (least it was for me).

>a minimum of a full fucking year
A full fucking newfag. I bet, your year has ended just yesterday. On all proper imageboards, it's considered good form to lurk read-only for the first three years. No fucking wonder the board sucks, it's full of newfags who think that merely one single year is enough to grasp the spirit of /a/. And these people dare to edify others! So disgusting and touching.
