>all the other chans alo hate MAL because plebs, normies, underage etc.

>hear an obscure anime, maybe not even fully subbed

>look it up on MAL

>it is guaranteed to have 2-4 reviews, even if some obscure 70s sunrise or toei anime

>click on one of their profiles

>they are no some "xD look at me!!!" weeb, their accounts are a decade old and they have seem 500 anime's

>and the reviews themselves use fact-based reasoning, reasonable reviews, and not that pretentious or self-serving like the video game reviewer hipsters who get paid

>the only exception to this is for overly popular shit which gets the typical "Kill la kill is an anime that will change your life" style reviews

>meanwhile on /a///ot///jp/

>polls consistently show anons as have seen <100 anime's

>blogging happens out the ass and rarely ever policed/deleted

>and don't get me started on those entrenched fanbases who often complain about the shitty anime fan forums of their retarded fanforums (evageeks, typemoon, madotards etc.)

I do not understand why this MAL place has a bad reputation. . I wouldn't want to make an account there myself, but it seems like their general credibility is pretty good, probably better than /a/ or most Japanese websites.

Also to be clear, I hate those people who say "I have a MAL account but only use it for tracking". Why would you use anime facebook if you think the community is cancerous? I don't like social networking so I do not have an account there myself.

6e97fb No.2351

I have a MAL account but only use it for tracking.

I don't particularly like or dislike MAL users. I just think MAL is the most complete and practical website for anime in general.

I track what I want to watch and already watched, I can find reasonable reviews and general information about most animes.

I don't care about the social aspect though.

>Why would you use anime facebook if you think the community is cancerous?

For tracking. They're good for it, there's only one manga I couldn't find there so far, out of all the shit I've read and watched, I'd say 1 missing out of 500 is a pretty good score.

>it is guaranteed to have 2-4 reviews, even if some obscure

70s sunrise or toei anime

No, I have watched several shows that have no reviews on MAL, there are shows without a MAL entry at all

>polls consistently show anons as have seen <100 animes

1- anime is also the plural form, and if I catch you using "animes" again, I will find you and cut your balls off

2-I've seen 600 shows and sampled some 500 others and I regret wasting my time watching most of that, you don't have to watch more than 200 shows to discuss the medium

3-Polls on /a/ and the chans in general are usually spammed using proxies and rarely reflect the community accurately, one day the poll will indicate that 80% of /a/ has seen over 1000 shows and the next week the poll will indicate that 80% watched less than a hundred shows

Having said all that, I have nothing against MAL, I created an account sometime in 2009 and used it to track for a while, I can't be bothered to track anymore so I no longer use it, as for the MAL forums, its just another forum with all the flows of mainstream forums

fbe9f3 No.2438

MAL itself is a useful tool for tracking whereas the forum is murrican Animexx. If you are not a krautfag: MAL has one of the most tasteless communities out there. The scores they give out is between 4 and 9 instead of between 1 and 10, overall the MAL community likes the most entry level shit. Besides, some pockets there managed to be more annoying than every weeb forum I have seen in my entire life. I am in the Animu game for 16 years by now btw.

Here are some examples of MAL's shit pleb taste in anime:

http://myanimelist.net/anime/227/FLCL

>Score: 8.06 (scored by 136181 users)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/339/Serial_Experiments_Lain

>Score: 7.98 (scored by 65751 users)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/26/Texhnolyze

>Score: 7.79 (scored by 17365 users)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/16498/Shingeki_no_Kyojin/reviews

>Score: 8.70 (scored by 345554 users)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/11757/Sword_Art_Online

Score: 8.09 (scored by 363093 users)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/226/Elfen_Lied

Score: 7.98 (scored by 283788 users)

Basically, if it's not an entry level show, they don't like it.

LOGH is #8 on MAL.

I think it's much more revolting that fucking Elfen Lied is tied with it.

>>2445

One of the few exceptions to the rule, but it's only because people who are retards aren't interested in politics in the first place, so they don't care about giving the show a try to even rate it in the first place.

That said, I think everything on MAL's top 10 is pretty good except for Hiatus X Homo and Clannad.

MAL is a useful tool for tracking like others have said, but if you interact with their cancerous community you don't belong on /a/.
