Ahayweh, and welcome to the /a/ meta containment and demoralization facility /ameta/!

If you are here to complain about a ban, please remember to include an archive link/screencap of the thread in question. Thank you!

ca441f No.2979[Last 50 Posts]

Can we please have IDs enabled. It would greatly detract the shitpost count as casual users wouldn't go through the process of switching up their proxy and posting under an ID.

We'd have users to blame per thread and call them out for their behavior.

I normally don't post on /a/ for the very fact there aren't IDs, seeing as the lack of them encourages people to samefag while creating a false dichotomy.

Please enable IDs

e6f0be No.2981

I, personally, wouldn't mind. Makes it easier to hide shitposts, too.

The march to make 8chan /a/ worse than 4chan /a/?

No thanks.

ca441f No.2985

>>2984

How would it make it worse?

I personally find boards here with IDs much better. Do you use any boards aside from /a/? They almost all have IDs and it deters samefagging from shitpost raids.

Chan boards are predicated on anonymity.

The idea of IDs shows a complete fundamental misunderstanding of how boards work.

What you want is Reddit, you just don't realize it.

It's not like IDs carry over from thread to thread. Then you'd be right.

But you're wrong. IDs aren't static. You get a different one every thread and on every board.

I ask again, do you use any board on 8chan besides /a/? Most use IDs and the post quality is fairly high because shitposters are greatly deterred.

0a2522 No.2998

Because 4chan is too set in it's ways for so many years due to it's age. 8chan is nice and young to be able to change without much resistance.

These aren't user names! These are IDs that change per thread and board. They aren't the same.

4chan doesn't enable IDs on all boards because their moderators are fucktarded. Still, I'm sure if they change everything tomorrow the kiddies will still post there.

63282f No.3001

True anonymity is a failed concept, anon. You see how with it immaturity from the real world has passed to our online interactions and ruined places like 4chan where you can barely talk without an argument starting and someone laughing because of the chaos. It's a headache posting anywhere without them. Wizardchan is the same way.

We need IDs to keep the user base calm and to create a more stimulating environment. How we ensure it doesn't become like a normal forum is by having IDs change per thread and per board so your identity doesn't gain a following.

We just had some shit come on the board and try to compare 4/a/ to 8/a/ saying we're dying and the community sucks. Of course we can't prove it was you because the place didn't have IDs, and even if it did we couldn't link you to here.

4chan has the shittiest community there is among on all chans, why can't we just take an early step here and create IDs to drastically cut down on casual shitposting.

I was just in a /pol/ thread and saw we nabbed an idiot trying to play both sides by not knowing how IDs work. Samefagging is a true nuisance and has people playing games without participating in the conversation. You still refuse to accept that with a community that is so accessible most users will lack the maturity to be able to responsibly anonymous post so we need to have measures to make them slightly accountable. 4chan with it's extreme accessibility should have IDs on all boards.

ALSO

I'd like to make you aware of the fact there there isn't a big problem with /v/ here, and if you make the statement like "oh it's /v/ fucking things up" here it's an instant marker that you're from 4chan because they are the ones with the bad /v/.

Moderators will ban you over the slightest things, especially upon receiving a topic/post report, as people who create topics/posts that violate the rules (such as those who post more then five syllables) will be met with incredibly swift banhammer strikes, and have their topics/posts deleted. This is also why 7chan is better than 4chan due to the fact retards are eradicated from the site.

Niggerwood had a part in this? I thought it was just moot and RapeApe who orchestrated that. Regardless, it's not as bad as you think nowdays. Shitty Nurutu threads like this: https://archive.moe/a/thread/125903289/ are still deleted and they only allow a single containment thread about discussion of the latest chapters and shit.

>You want me to go back to 4/a/ and say all the deleted rec threads are representative of the rest of the board?

It was just to serve as a small example to illustrate my point. 8/a/ is mostly crossboarders from /v/ and alike. You have a much higher ratio of them browsing the board here. If you think otherwise, you're deluding yourself. This is literally GG, /v/ and /pol/: the chan. They were the only people who immigrated in signifcant numbers.

>Other than, you know, Troid, Redwood, and the IRC logs showing that the janitors are completely out of touch with the userbase.

Cite me a few present-day examples of 4/a/'s moderation being "SJW's". I don't see any evidence of that besides MAYBE Troid favoring the crack shitposters, and even that is pushing. I don't frequent those threads to care very much as I already said.

This thread just got deleted there btw: https://archive.moe/a/thread/125903593/ So much for the SJW boogeyman.

>Stop making shit up, the board owner has been banning for crossboarding since he took over, that's precisely why we have the /pol/ and recs rules.

Oh sorry, I didn't see this post until now. I think this one got autosaged because of the huge amount of off-topic shitposting in it and metashit everywhere. One of their mods did say to keep the threads on topic, don't blog, don't post NSFW content, etc. If that happens again without any apparent justifiable reason to autosage or delete the thread, then I'll admit you're right. I wouldn't count on the lolifags migrating to this place though. An alternative has yet to arise if more problems regarding that start to happen again.

I don't think you are, I've just been looking through the archive and really can't find a consensus on it. So, in the absence of that, I think google impressions are as good a metric as any, since they at least judge new interest better than Alexa.

>The point is that 8/a/ is simply worse. And it's not like the 8/a/ mods are saints either.

I really don't understand this mentality, you can just make your own board here, and even keep it hidden, so you don't have to worry so much about crossboarders.

>Have you forgotten about the shitstorm involving the /pol/ anon who got banned wrongly some months ago?

No, and the owner is certainly a top-tier hotpcketeer who seems to revel in banning people, but /a/ getting mad over "pol/shit is nothing new.

>Niggerwood had a part in this?

Not hard to find him in /v/ flavor of the season shows, and occasionally in big three threads. But, as I recall, he was always assumed to be responsible for saging loli threads.

>This is literally GG, /v/ and /pol/: the chan. They were the only people who immigrated in signifcant numbers.

I'm not denying it, but I think it's a bad argument. 4chan is literally /b/, /v/ and sometimes /pol/ the chan. We do probably do get more crossboarders, but honestly, /a/ is slow enough that they just talk about anime on /v/.

>Cite me a few present-day examples of 4/a/'s moderation being "SJW's"

https://archive.moe/a/thread/125903593/#q125903818

Not to sound paranoid, but mods have interfered in threads they ordinarily allow when it suited them, one of the major spurs of the exodus was the mods (allegedly) making a really obvious tumblr thread on /v/, I think, and then publically banning the OP and leaving it up so people could circlejerk over the mods.

>So why wasn't the /v/edditor faggot whom I linked in my post banned, eh?

Probably no-one reported it, and it's in the owner's interest to leave posts like that up so long as they're in the minority so he can get UIDs/PPH. Not justifying it.

The previous owner was even worse in this aspect. And the first one was a tranny degenerate who tweeted SJW articles (very ironic considering you like to accuse 4/a/'s mods of being SJW's so much, isn't it?). 8chan and it's variants were autobanned on half, creating an environment where anyone who even acknowledged the site exists was banned and forced here, leading to a massive circlejerk, and halfchan has never been a slur here, so comparing it cuckchan or 8gag is just stupid.

>Some of them are made of crossboarders from the other boards that were affected by the GG scandal

Not a single board I listed had anything to do with GG, except maybe /christian/.

>/cow/

Latest incarnation of /cwc/, here because 888chan died.

>/furry/

Apparently here because of drama on furfag chans, though I don't know much.

>/legion/, /waifuist/

The first user-created boards here, and /legion/ migrated from 4/co/ a year before GG.

>/cyber/

/tech/ offshoot, and /tech/ is aggressively non-political. They came here because they hated the state of /g/, and could have just as easily gone to lainchan.

>/christian/

Composed partially of christian trolls from /pol/, and partially of apparent believers. Fair to say it's a majority crossboarder board.

>/monster/

No idea, but I'm guessing an /a/ offshoot.

>/4chon/

Here because 4chon died.

>/baphomet/

Script kiddy central, relishes in getting GG blamed for everything they do.

>Others don't make up a significant part of the userbase

I don't understand this fixation with traffic, almost all of those boards are self-contained communities, so of course they aren't a significant number.

>So why did nobody do that, eh? Admit it, this system doesn't work. Split boards never survive.

/gg/ -> /gamergate/ -> /gamergatehq/ is the most recent example. The problem is with 4chan legacy boards, where migrations work in the short term, but everyone eventually comes back because of the Top 25 system where faster boards get constant exposure.

>Yeah, but that didn't happen in this case. It was deleted normally.

See above.

>I don't understand this fixation with traffic, almost all of those boards are self-contained communities, so of course they aren't a significant number.

It's not 'fixation', it's stating facts. Most people came here because of GG in some way or another.

>The problem is with 4chan legacy boards, where migrations work in the short term, but everyone eventually comes back because of the Top 25 system where faster boards get constant exposure.

Exactly. That's why it's shit. People don't fucking migrate no matter how terrible the state of the board is. People should've abandoned 8/a/ completely and migrated elsewhere the moment Ruya was revealed to be a tranny SJW. You've been stuck with a legacy of shitmods just like /pol/ ever since and it looks like this isn't changing anytime soon.

>Which case do you mean? Because one of those /v/ threads was left up for an hour and the other for 20 minutes.

I meant the tumblr bait on /a/ obviously, not those ones you linked.

000000 No.3219

>/monster/ too since they're mostly /v/ and /vg/ crossboarders as well.

/vg/ came here for quality, not GG. The most active generals are the ones that got the most shitposting back on half. And it's not /v/ crossboarding either, since /v/ has no restrictions on generals.

>Most people came here because of GG in some way or another

>most people

They really didn't. 8chan is 3 times the size it was after the GG exodus, when you take into the account the niche boards and the fact that the later exodi happened purely because some people stopped seeing 4chan as a cool place to shitpost, it's hard to believe GG could be anymore than a third of the userbase.

>People don't fucking migrate no matter how terrible the state of the board is

Again, /gg/ -> /gamergate/ -> /gamergatehq/. People aren't that beholden to legacy boards anyway, /g/ is completely dead compared to /tech/. The real problem is the constant exposure of already fast boards via the Top 25 bar. Lastly, people do migrate, but like I said, they come back because the migration board can't sustain it's initial traffic due to the Top 25.

Really? Let's analyze most of the top 25 boards to see if they have a relation to GG or not in that case:

>/v/

GG related.

>/pol/

GG related

>/gamergatehq/

Duh.

>/tech/

Semi-GG related. Has some crossboarders from /v/, but a lot of actual /g/ users as well.

>/furry/

It's the only popular exception as I have already said.

>/a/

Made up mostly of crossboarders from /v/ and /pol/. Arguably GG related.

>/k/

/pol/ crossboarders.

>/co/

Had their own "Comicsgate" which got censored on 4/co/ as well. Used to be pretty empty before that.

>/int/ and /intl/

/pol/ shitposters who exiled themselves there.

Everything else isn't really relevant in the big picture. GG related boards undeniably make up the majority of the site's userbase.

>/g/ is completely dead compared to /tech/

Yeah, but only because people started migrating to that one really early. Actual split boards that are made AFTER the migration to a legacy one has already started never survive.

I don't remember what the activity was like for each board back then, but you're wrong about the second exodus not having anything to do with GG. It happened because moot was mad at /pol/ about finding out that his Jew girlfriend/love interest who worked at Gawker cucked him with another guy. /pol/ was left in a completely fucked state for over month. When it went back to normal again, most of the cuckchanners went back there. Third exodus never happened. moot's retirement didn't trigger a significant migration.

>It has more to do with the fact you're a faggot.

>You've got to be kidding me, right? You don't have anything to back that absurd statement up.

>please spoonfeed me

>also prove a negative

>What happened on 4/co/ was pretty much the same as the GG scenario on /v/ and /pol/.

That doesn't make it GG related.

Yeah, no, that was September, and /pol/ had more filters than cuck -> cluck. Are you completely retarded? People moving here because moot is a fucking faggot doesn't make it GG related, even if it was in December.

>When it went back to normal again, most of the cuckchanners went back there. Third exodus never happened. moot's retirement didn't trigger a significant migration.

And to add my own completely unverifiable anecdote, there was a noted decline in post quality during the second exodus, which led to the creation of quality-focused versions of /v/ and /pol/ (/polpol/ and /svidya.) .

>/int/ used to self-admit that their raids on /pol/ were due to the board becoming "rulecuck central"

And /int/'s drama started on /int/ and they raided several boards for shits and giggles, to get back at the globals. You don't even know what you're talking about do you? /int/ only raided /pol/ ~2 months ago.

>And /n/ is pretty much just /pol/ with news. You don't have to browse the board longer than a few minutes to realize that.

Hello, newfag.I'll spoonfeed you just this once once. /n/ (nee /news+/) exists because way back (in November iirc) Hotwheels made /pol/ an official board and in doing so, he unbanned everyone and crippled the moderation (no permabans was the most signicant rule), and unsurprisingly, everyone hated him for it. He killed the idea after a day, got salty as fuck and started crying about /pol/ being not like the "real" /new/ (4chon/new/ that he drove into the ground) and created /news+/, later rechristianed /n/. /n/ and /pol/ don't even share a userbase, /n/ is absolutely full of /leftypol/ (who incidentally came from GG, not /pol/) just like /news+/ was. They've got some autistic fascination with shitting up /pol/ and turning the site against it.

IDs are not needed. We don't deal with the same bs /pol/ or /v/ deal with.

Also it dulls the samefag sense.

/g/ used to have tons of /v/ crossboarders at least asking how to build a gaming PC. This applies to /tech/ to some extent too.

And you don't need to be this much of a newfag as to not know what a reaction image is.

>Are you completely retarded? People moving here because moot is a fucking faggot doesn't make it GG related, even if it was in December.

His girlfriend worked at Gawker. Gawker was related to GG. He nuked /pol/ because they were the ones who found out about her.

PPH doesn't have a very strong correlation with traffic. You can see that there's a lot of variation in those stats as well because of spam, circlejerking and stuff. They are anything but uniform. Discarded.

>And to add my own completely unverifiable anecdote, there was a noted decline in post quality during the second exodus, which led to the creation of quality-focused versions of /v/ and /pol/ (/polpol/ and /svidya.) .

Where did I denied this happened? Most of the second exodus fags went back, but the ones that stayed were enough to bring the quality down.

>And /int/'s drama started on /int/ and they raided several boards for shits and giggles, to get back at the globals. You don't even know what you're talking about do you? /int/ only raided /pol/ ~2 months ago.

I'm referring to them in their own words, not mine. Some of the people there said most of /int/'s population consisted of /pol/tards who were tired of the "rulecuckery" happening there. Neither of us can verify if this is true or not, so you should stop speaking like you're 100% correct about the contrary.

Yes. I was already aware of this. /pol/ crossboarders still made up a huge part of /news+/ population back then despite all of this.

>/n/ and /pol/ don't even share a userbase, /n/ is absolutely full of /leftypol/ (who incidentally came from GG, not /pol/) just like /news+/ was. They've got some autistic fascination with shitting up /pol/ and turning the site against it.

Dunno about that, but it wasn't like this they last time I visited it if you're telling the truth. Maybe they only started shitting it up recently.

hurr fucking durr, read the image. People knew that in September and he nuked /sp/ for it. I don't even remember what caused the cluckening, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't that.

>They are anything but uniform.

Except for it going up consistently as time went on.

>Discarded.

Back your own claims up first faggot.

>Neither of us can verify if this is true or not

I fucking can newfag, because I was there. /int/ drama started and still goes on because /int/ is owned by a global (soma or lowcard), they raided everyone because of this and tried to kill legacy boards like /v/ and /a/ with /vvv/, and /am/, not to mention all the /pol/ spinoffs.

>/pol/ crossboarders still made up a huge part of /news+/ population back then despite all of this.

If by crossboarders, you mean the same shitposting faggots who came in the 2nd 4chan exodus, I agree. That still doesn't relate it to GG, since the 2nd exodus had nothing to do with GG.

>Dunno about that, but it wasn't like this they last time I visited it if you're telling the truth. Maybe they only started shitting it up recently.

Nigger, /news+/ was full of them from the start. They actually think stringing together buzzwords like racist and stormfag is an argument, and copypaste didn't care because he has this lunatic idea that /n/, 4/new/, or even 4/pol/ was ever an "ideological battground".

Faggots that want IDs are /v/irgins and /pol/acks or generalsfags. Generalsfags want IDs more than most because their threads, being repetitive and pervasive as they are, will attract regular shitposters. It happens in every general ever. Naturally, they'll be able to self-manage against this sort of poster, by being able to hide the poster via his ID.

But let me tell you something that IDs will not do for anyone other than generalsfags:

IDs won't do shit to help reduce shitposting. They will not make posters or lurkers more aware of shitposting. They will not help mods to manage shitposting. IDs will not help improve board quality. They will not discourage potential shitposters from shitposting.

Shitposters shitpost and that's that. They'll do it with or without IDs. Mods have hidden IDs for every poster anyway, so if you report a poster you dislike, the mod checks up on the report and concludes that they are a legitimate shitposter based on their posting history, then they'll get banned. Simple as that.

I REPEAT, IDs WILL NOT SOLVE ANY PROBLEMS /a/ HAS TO DEAL WITH AND WILL PROBABLY CREATE MORE, LIKE ATTRACTING MORE FUCKING GENERALSFAGS TO CANCER UP THE BOARD

No, I am a (former now I guess) /pol/ack and I don't want IDs. Why the fuck would you take our greatest blessing, anonymity to others and compromise that is beyond me. It is odd that /a/ understands this the most since anonymity is least important there outside if lolis but thank God for /a/.
