8/a/ mods try too hard to be like "old /a/" yet fail miserably at it it, because the initiative needs to come from the userbase, not the mods.
I don't consider myself an "/a/ oldfag", but I've been a regular 4/a/ user since 2009 (cuckchan user since 2007 though, I started with the babby boards like /b/ and /v/ like everyone else) and it was indeed never like this in terms of how it's moderated. They were very good at self-moderation though. This seems to be a foreign concept here, since 8/a/'s userbase is mostly newfags from /v/ and alike.
