Not gonna lie; I only vaguely remember Gall Force. I think the Sci-Fi Channel used to play some of the OVAs during their Saturday anime block.

Other than that, I wasn't too interested in picking up any of the R1 DVDs, as I was more interested in grabbing more recent stuff at the time. I should probably fix that.

The first movie is definitely great. The sequels, I like the following three at least, but many of the older fans don't seem to like them much. The Earth Chapters (which are after the Rhea movie) aren't so good, and New Era is a sight improvement.

I really dig the 90s reboot/sequel thing, though. It brings needed closure to the franchise.
