Book Club?
For those unfamiliar, the gist is: the community votes on a book, we then read it and discuss our interpretations, objections and other insights relating to said text. Naturally, the books would be related to anarchism and related topics.Anarchist Council
New board owner here, I propose that we make moderation of the board more anarchistic, something I was planning to do if I became mod and that has also been raised in another thread.FAQ
This is the Anarchist FAQ, currently a work in progress. It's a mess (at the time of creation), that will change. I will edit this post as you recommend content.Meeting #1 of the /anarcho/ book club

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knnLr65EeGgThis is literally the only anarchy board
I have been searching for active anarchy boards and there is absolutely zero of them. This is literally the only board I could find and it isn't that active. How come no one is that interested in anarchy?
Well there is r/anarchy what a horrific place that is. Every other thread is KILL WHITEY. DON'T PROPAGATE RAPE CULTURE. MISOGYNST
I even replied to one of them and said "What does this have to do with anarchy?" And I got downvoted to oblivion. No one actually talks about anarchy on there.
Anyways, how can we make this board more active?
0chan Part Two: Anarchic Weaboos
Because of this post >>9793 , I'm making a thread for an idea I've been thinking about for awhile now that I expect will gain no traction anyways kek. I think in light of /anarcho/'s increasing stagnation and /leftypol/ turning into a /pol/ bait/Old Left Marxist/Old Left libertarian socialist/leftist meme theory board, it's only become more pertinent. I did however make a post a few months back about this under different circumstances: >>8944
Basically, I have been thinking of making an imageboard sort of along the lines of /leftypol/'s Bunkerchan, but with the express intent of being a space for nihilists and anarchists. Pretty much like what Anokchan used to be. I think this is important because I've come to notice that the anarchist population among the imageboard community has just started to disappear the past few months. You've got a lot of anarchist types on Lainchan, sure, but Lainchan's administration seems to have over and over again turned down any opportunities to take an official political stance for the board - which is fine, since the board itself was never intended to have an explicit political position, and doing this would probably alienate a lot of users. But aside from all the people there who might like an anarchist imageboard, and the other anarchists scattered around the other *chans and the internet at large, it seems like the majority of "anarchists" around the imageboard community are essentially libertarian socialist Old Left types. Not that I have a problem with them per say, but you hear a /leftypol/ ideology being echoed constantly on there: Literally everything bad is rooted in capitalism and materialism, muh New Old Left, muh free speech for fascists, literally everything that isn't about capitalism (and I guess the State too sorta right anarkiddies…) is "IdPol". And that's ignoring the other problems of the board.
I'm trying to avoid sounding like too much of an ideologue here, but as far as I can tell, this way of thinking, this idolizing the left that was, is mostly exclusive to anarchists on /leftypol/ rather than the contemporary anarchist community as a whole.
Thing is, this would take effort to develop, effort to admin, effort to learn to admin a website and git gud at coding and shit - all stuff that I'd like to learn, but that would also be work on my part that I get the impression would probably be wasted unless we could somehow actually get people interested. Plus, it'd cost me money. Bunkerchan is going to be joining a new iteration of the USSC with GETchan, so we could join that, but I think ideally we'd want to get more than just the wider imageboard community involved.
Anyways, any thoughts?
>tl;dr I wanna maybe maybe make an anarchist/nihilist imageboard along the lines of Anokchan because there seems to be a lack of this. wat do
>tfw posts you made months ago are still on /anarcho/ ;_;
Come to /thirdpositionist/
Are you an anarchist who doesn't like niggers?
Do you love the idea of anarchy but hate the idea of sharing your commune with SJW's?
Do you want to gas the kikes while at the same time igniting a socialist revolution?
Are you a national anarchist?
If you answered yes to any of these questions the /thirdpositionist/ is the board for you!
Come home white comrades and together we shall overthrow capitalism!
Ancap vs. Ancom or global differences
WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK. is going on here.
I came to this board yesterday the first time and most shit i read about is: mimimi im ayncrap mimimi im ancom, im better. So i wanted to ask if this ayncrap/ancom Struggle is a serious thing in your Country. Some months ago i didn´t even know about the existence of ayncraps. I´ve never heard about it in the local scene. Im from germany so i know the clash of "Anti Imperialisten" (So called Anti Imps/anti imperialists) and "Anti Deutsche " (anti germans) inside the left scene but i never stumbled upon an ayncrap somewhere.
Also i read much words like "pussy" and so on which would be hated in the german scene for not beeing pc. Pc is taken very seriously by the most i think. Much people dont care as hard about it as others but they mostly accept it.
So come on and tell me specialtys of your area.

Is internationalism and anarchism the natural evolutionary step of nationalism?
Because really, the main objection i have to nationalism is it is inherently divisive and dogmatic, its a tool used to divide people in a certain geographical location. But their are some aspects of nationalism and nationalist movements i cant help but support, like their preservation of a person culture and heritage in the face of imperialism and colonialism.
I think their is this misconception that anarchism wants to bring about a global cosmopolitan utopia and bring about a sort of world culture, but obviously this isn't true. In ant kind of anarchist society the culture of the people who live their would be free to further develop and evolve and just becomes more include and no longer separated by artificial lines.
Anarchism has no history. It is in all of us. From the time of the Neolithic revolution people have strived to free themselves from the burden of the capitalist oligarchs. Look around yourself - sparrows, grasshoppers and even cacti come together in communes where there is freedom and freedom, where everyone can do as they will.

How do you defeat "capitalism" if society still retains the "capitalist mode of production"
Not taking potshots at ayncraps here because syndicalists, Ancoms, mutualists, etc. don't address the industrialization of everything either.
Sure rise up and seize the factories. You still work in a factory for a wage. It doesn't matter if it's a better wage or less hours or more benefits it's still wage slavery.
Just using the factory as an example but this applies to all forms of industry. Whether agriculture or media or medicine or education.
The industrial age is not just a top down imposition of a particular mode of production. It has been internalized by the masses and now seems to be infecting culture and sexuality and identity everything.
Look at Facebook. Its a Friggin factory. Everyone churning out selfies and pictures of their lunch and their kids posed in elaborate performances of cute. Distributed as a "free" service to mindless consumers clicking like and share to more widely distribute these goods to more consumers. Receiving payment in kind from other producers.
Production. Distribution. Consumption.
They've become a mindset. A cultural imperative.
Primitivists have grasped this point. But have decided that the almost complete abandonment of modern tools is the answer. Yet there they are on the internet. Advocating measures they themselves are obviously unwilling to take.
So here's my question I guess
Can you take the tools out of the factory?
Can modern technology be deindustrialized?
And can this be done now without waiting for the glorious day of the revolution that just simply isn't coming?
The state is not great
When you seek food, do you ask for permission?
When you desire breath, do you need to ask?
When you are ready to have children, is it your own choice?
The state is a universalist parasite. It infects and corrupts everything. Nothing can exist and remain good when the state gets involved. Is it altruism when you steal from one to give to another?
Remember this when porky floods your country with immigrants, you allowed yourself to be made a slave in your own land.
Michael Schmidt, co-author of Black Flame, *may* be a closet nationalist
>We have some ugly and upsetting news…
>About six months ago, we started hearing some disturbing rumors that one of our authors, Michael Schmidt, was an undercover fascist. Soon after, another one of our authors, Alexander Reid Ross, provided us with actual evidence. We helped him investigate further for several weeks and then put him in touch with another writer. Over the past months, we have received and compiled what we consider to be incontrovertible evidence that Michael Schmidt is a white nationalist trying to infiltrate the anarchist movement.
>Alexander will soon be publishing an article that presents all the details in a more comprehensive manner, but we are not comfortable sitting on this information any longer. We have always drawn strength from the history of anarchism as an internationalist movement concerned with the destruction of capitalism, the state, and hierarchal social relations. Those social relations clearly include racism and white supremacy. We are committed enemies of fascists and their sympathizers. The anarchist movement won’t tolerate their sick credo and, when they are found hiding in our midst, they must be dragged from the shadows.
>We have cancelled Schmidt’s upcoming book and have put the two books of his that we’ve already published out of print. Please stay tuned for the whole story.

RetroShare
Sup comrades. I'm just going to be copypasting this from /leftypol/. Y'all chummers should download and join the /leftypol/ forum and chatroom; we could also make ones for /anarcho/ if you'd like:
http://retroshare.sourceforge.net/
It's a decentralized, secure and (optionally with v0.6 + tor) completely anonymous 'friend2friend' network and application. Main uses are free file-sharing and community building, since it works by pairing friends to each other. More info here: https://8ch.net/netplus/res/3.html
How it works
Download software, create profile, add friends. In order to add friends you need to exchange public keys, so what we usually do is have everyone post their public keys in this thread and everyone adds everyone else.
Why post this on /leftypol//anarcho/?
Because we all know all manner of /pol/tards infiltrate us and try to subvert the board's ideas by creating a false consensus. Retroshare's idea of networking prevents impostors from connecting to the main group, since you can just block any annoying peer from connecting to you (and thus cut off their access to the community). It is by design hard to infiltrate, but easy to discuss and share stuff with.
Join us now, comrades!
Hello, 23 year old here. I've always criticised the acts of government. Hating every party there is because they're all just the same. For the years upon years of ranting I've thought I was out of this social democratic or nationalist looking theocratic powerhouses fighting each other to create their own ideologies oligarchs. No matter which guy elected same thing happened to the people. Poor got poorer and rich got richer, sign of development for them not for me. Other young people around me turned face to apathy, I told them it was wrong to do so but they were drowning upon their powerlessness. I turned face to anarchy, so if I pass away from this degenerate dumpster I pass with my dignity.
By the way the country is Turkey.

Heres mine; http://pastebin.com/smXXb0CA
I am new to anarchism and recently only realised why they like a black flag. That was the start of my reading. I then read anarchism for beginners and for a while that satisfied my enquiries. I discussed anarchism with my parents but started realising that anarchists arent mentally retarded squirty little kids making trouble, like my like my dad said they were. I realised that, for example Kropotkin was quite a cool guy who was well educated but I would like to ask you some questions I cant find the answer to anywhere else. How do anarchists hope to persuade the military of various countries to lay down their arms if the anarchists only believe in peaceful revolution?
What did you do yesterday or today that would help a revolution take place?
My grandfather told me that his father fought on the side of the anarchists in the spanish civil war but thought they were full of shit so he walked into France and worked in the French post office - are there any books by spanish anarchists, my grandfather said the spanish anarchists considered reading academic texts as too bourgeois.
The Society of the Spectacle
Social life is still about appearing instead of having (which was already a degradation from being). For example, being "fresh dipped". A lie has been valued by the powerful for centuries. We have been seeing many spectacular presentations of life, and our lives have not been real. The presentations have gotten so far out of control that even the liars are lying to themselves!
It has long been said that money generalizes need and work so much that common interest and mutual dependence animates the "dead". We are not the ones who are living. Our lifeless productions are, and the broadcast unites us despite our irreconcilable differences. In the manner that prices and sales justify social relationships, images tell us how our relationships are justified.
The spectacle was planned and implemented like a blueprint and a 3D model for a global construction and development project. The market needs to shout this unreality to affirm prefabricated demand and constantly justify the system. The spectacle portrays the dominant system of production, and that system has the ultimate goal of producing that portrayal. The false is a real product while real people contemplate, absorb, and align themselves with the spectacle.
Anarchy is in the mind
True Anarchy has nothing to do with social pests and leftist punks. Today's so called "Anarchy" is nothing but a deluded and misguided movement of lazy nutjobs who would follow anyone as lonjg as they don't have to work and follow their retarded "everyone is the same" ideology.
Any true anarchist needs no one except himself. Deal with it,
Terrorism
“terrorism is non-state activity that threatens the power relations that prop up the state. Whether it’s direct action that undermines capitalism and animal exploitation or religiously motivated violence against corporate and military targets, what those targeted with terrorism charges share is a value system that rejects the absolute authority of the state and shows a willingness to act on it. That’s why Dylan Roof isn’t a terrorist, nor abortion clinic bombers, nor right-wing paramilitaries in Latin America, nor US drones in Pakistan or Yemen. Those forms of violence, while obviously intended to compel obedience to hierarchies through violence, don’t challenge the values that the US state is based upon. It’s not a difference of tactics or intent; it’s a difference of ideology and interests.”
Proudhon general
Friendly reminder that automatically associating Proudhon with 'mutualism' instead of 'scientific socialism' is exactly the trap that marxists want us to fall into.
i.e. how the hell would you have realistically approached the people of pre-1950 France with your proposals of socialism?

DARPA GENETIC ENGINEERING
DARPA’s CAPP’s current goal is to discover biotechnological methods that allow soldiers to function without food or sleep for up to 7 days
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), often known as the “mad scientist wing” (Gayle, 2012) of the DoD, has allocated an annual budget of $2 billion to several different projects all working towards building a supersoldier( Posel, 2013, para. 1). The main hope for accomplishing such a feat lies in genetic engineering,
DARPA’s Continuous Assisted Performance Program’s current goal is to discover biotechnological methods that allow soldiers to function without food or sleep for up to seven days (Seal, 2003).
Scientists have looked to the animal kingdom for these answers, with a particular interest in bottlenose dolphins and the sled dogs of the Iditarod. Sam Ridgway, Ph.D. in neurobiology from the University of Cambridge and President of the National Marine Animal Foundation, is conducting research to discover how dolphins remain vigilant for extended durations of time. Scientists have found that these mammals have to ability to practice unihemispheric sleep (Castro, 2003). The phenomena is that while one hemisphere of the brain is asleep, the other half remains alert. When tired, the dolphin simply wakes up the now refreshed portion of its brain while the weary section goes to sleep. Studies starring two bottlenose dolphins have repeatedly demonstrated the animals’ ability to last five days in this state with no decrease in activity or attentiveness. By determining which genes make this inherent trait possible, DARPA hopes to trigger the same ability in its soldiers
DARPA is also attempting to alter the genes that control the body’s metabolism (Posel, 2013, para. 5).
By modifying the rate at which fat is converted into pure energy, soldiers could, in theory, go without food for days. The most promising avenue of inquiry is a project investigating the Huskies and Malamutes of the Iditarod and how they are capable of running thousands of miles without developing extreme debility. The head of the project, Dr. Michael S. Davis, professor of Veterinary Physiology at Oklahoma State University, has discovered that these dogs reserve their fat and glycogen stores by spontaneously changing their metabolic rates. This capability allows the animals to run 100 miles a day with a slowed metabolism similar to the one assumed when sleeping; in less than 24 hours, they are able to switch back to their usual metabolic rate, one that is similar to a man’s (Robson, 2008). If this genetic trait could be adapted to humans, soldiers would have insurmountable endurance and stamina on the battlefield.

Nationalism and Its Effects on Peace in Europe
With global crisis, unemployment, dissatisfaction, poverty and intolerance has increased and with it also nationalism. Political parties with nationalist platforms are rising and gaining more support around the world and Europe is no exception.
In Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom and across Europe we can see the rise of the right. The financial crisis in the Eurozone and beyond has triggered rising of nationalists and far-right political parties.
The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) on 9th of July released a report about the dramatic increase in anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, online hate speech and xenophobic political discourse as the main trends in 2014.
Nationalism can be positive with legitimacy, promotion of nations and inspiration for citizens or negative by creating tensions between different ethnicity and groups in or outside the country. Some negative aspects of ideology or political movement can be seen in the latest football matches in the Balkans, where supporters of team groups have burned many national flags and hooliganism that is the result of long lasting hatred and nationalism on the ground. Every country has its own history and different positions, but still similarities could be found.
The country all news is regarding to in recent times is Greece. A known slogan “Greece for Greeks” is well known in its anti-austerity party. Attacks against minorities and immigrants with racism are seen in one of the European Union (EU) members. Golden Dawn neo-Nazi party is linked to hundreds of violent attacks against minorities.
It is known for anti-immigration, racist-nationalist worldview. With elections being held this year in January the party captured 6.3% of the vote and 17 senate seats in Hellenic parliament and become the country’s third largest party. In 2014 the party won 9.4% of votes in European parliamentary election and with it 3 seats out of 21.
The party has been put on a trial this year for its criminal activity.
Nationalism in Greece has divided citizens and noncitizens to us and them and created the gap between both. With the economic crisis, Greeks debt, overall economic meltdown, unemployment and increasing number of refugees from different countries, the party led by Nikos Michaloliakos has gained more support and caused even greater intolerance to foreign people in need. Unfortunately, they are not the only one spreading intolerance. Many politicians have a stance against immigrants, which shapes the Greeks’ attitude towards nationalism.

sage wasnt meant to be an insult, that's a dumb mentality.
In 「western-style」 forums, there was no way to prevent a post from rising the thread, as it was thought that only worthless posts wouldn't want it to rise, and that they were better avoided.
Not wanting to be all like, 「look at me! look at me! I made a post,」 was unthinkable.
So was not using names. Why wouldn't someone want to use a name and take credit for their posts?
sup guys. not trying to spook anyone here, but wouldn't most of you say violence in self-defense is acceptable? And if you are currently being enslaved, would using violence to free yourself be acceptable?
Just to clarify, this is not about the effectiveness of violence, just the morality of it.

AnarChan thought experiment
So /anarcho/, I've had some vague thoughts floating in my head for awhile now about 8chan and anarchism, and was wondering for you input and starting a discussion on the matter:
A lot of you are probably aware by now that 8chan has recently had an influx of Plebbit users upset that their liberal dictatorship hugbox is starting to actually affect things they want to talk about. Hotwheels' response to suggestions by users thus far on the possible damage this can cause to the community, and other problems regarding cross-board animosity and competition for the top 25 has basically been what you'd expect from a libertarian. I don't have screencaps of everything he's been saying, but pic related gives you an idea of it.
Basically, he's making recourse to what all radical capitalists believe: People will choose what has the best quality every time, and if something has visibility, power, or popularity, it's the peoples' fault and vote with your wallet (in this case, posting) and blah blah blah all that horseshit.
This has got me thinking: 8chan is certainly not an example of virtual anarchy insofar as it has a hierarchy and is owned by someone who has all the site's content on a server they own, but still, as far as freedom - convenience - usership goes, 8chan is probably the closest thing right now to virtual anarchy that would require you to host your own website on some sort of community-run Internet alternative meshnet and get a grand total of maybe a dozen regular users (right now, at least).
Suppose, though, that there were a chan founded by anarchists, allowing for even more freedom than 8chan and without this lassiez-faire bullshit that allows for hostile shitposting boards like /pol/ and /intl/ or relentlessly paranoid and competitive boards like /cuteboys/ to stay in the top 25 and ban or raid any other boards that make it into the top 25.
What would such a chan look like? Is this kind of thing possible? I'm just interested in generating discussion on the matter; in a practical sense, it's probably better for us to stay on a site with more traffic rather than try to secede and get zero people posting.
>tl;dr A *chan that is based on principles of anarchy and run by anarchists rather than a libertarian, is it possible and what would it look like?

World Less Violent?
Armies and Governments Are No Longer Our Biggest Threats to Peace
>The argument that we are now a less violent world is compelling, but it raises more questions than it provides answers. In Australia, while murder rates have been steady for decades, assaults are on the rise – from 623 per 100,000 in 1996 to 840 per 100,000 in 2007. More young women are appearing before the courts than ever before for violent offences, and domestic violence has seen a resurgence despite the media awareness surrounding the issue.
>In NSW, the problem of street violence has been brought to the fore recently by a number of high profile cases in the media. Young men who have either been killed (in the case of Thomas Kelly, who was fatally punched in Sydney’s Kings Cross in July 2012) or put into comas after being “king hit”, illustrate the extent to which street violence is prevalent in some areas in Australia’s major urban centres.
>The statistics tell us about the immediate causes of the violence, but very little about the mindset of the young perpetrators, usually men, and why they ultimately become violent.
>There is a complex relation between violence and public drinking, which is embedded in Australia’s history and culture. Regular violence in public drinking locations cannot simply be blamed on rowdy patrons or excused as something natural and unstoppable, and nor can it simply be blamed on irresponsible drinking. The drinking environment is an evolving historical and cultural product, which can be left unchanged, or altered for the better through education and legislation.
>The outcry against these indiscriminate acts of violence demonstrates that the wider public finds them unacceptable. Attitudes towards violence are constantly changing, but not always in a positive direction. In the cultural domain, for example, schlock horror movies are more explicit than ever before and leave films like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction - both of which caused a stir in their day - looking very mild in comparison.
>Conversely, what one generation may have accepted as perfectly banal (corporal punishment against children in the 1950s, for instance) may shock another, later generation.
> Four key components of peace got worse in the 2014 Index, which gives us a picture of world peacefulness in the year prior. Domestic terrorism has increased significantly in many parts of the world since the start of the Iraq War. In the past year, the number of people killed by conflict inside their own country, including civilians, has also risen. More people were displaced within their countries or fled as refugees this past year than the year before. And in the 2014 Index, the score for ongoing wars has gotten worse—but that includes internal and external conflicts and so the data behind this indicator is likely to be consistent with the shift away from international conflicts.
>Looking at more than just the last year, the same trend holds true. The GPI report includes a section on trends in peacefulness from 2008 to 2014, which demonstrates that what the IEP calls “internal peacefulness” is getting worse. The largest changes have been observed in weapons imports and weapons exports—both measures of “external peace.” But factors like each country’s number of heavy and nuclear weapons and of armed service personnel have improved, showing that external peace as a whole is getting better. Levels of internal conflict have varied, but it is really safety and security, more so than war, that’s driving the decline in world peace. Terrorist activity has gotten worse. Homicide rates improved in 2014, but because of data collection challenges the IEP reports that the long-term trend of increasing homicides and violent crime is more reliable than any single year figure. And perceptions of criminality, the likelihood of violent demonstrations, incarceration, and access to small arms have worsened as well.
>In short, the nature of peace is changing. Breakdowns in peacefulness are becoming more decentralized, and peacefulness relies more heavily on social structures and non-state actors as opposed to exclusively governments and formal militaries. Peace is becoming more democratic, if you will.
>Given the severity of organized, inter-state conflict in the 20th century, the trend of declining militarization and international war implies that we have made progress in solving 20th-century problems.
But is even that true?
There is a bias that ignores all the wars in the ""third world"" and all the ethnic conflicts from immigration.

The world is now under anarchy, how do you keep it?
You tell me, how would the following occur:
>equal distribution for the masses and unequal distribution in special scenarios (for instance a program such as NASA)
>How do you prevent people promising shelter from forming a state with the power of their loyal people
>Can these societys properly function on large scale or will they have to be broken up
>Technological advancements occur, what is to prevent slow adaption and production
>How do you keep at least the majority of people doing work other then the minimum for resources to live (working in factories and such, someones gotta do it)
Thorstein Veblen
>Representative government means, chiefly, representation of business interests ….for there is a naive, unquestioning persuasion … among the … people to the effect that, in some occult way, the material interests of the populace coincide with the pecuniary interests of those business men who live within the scope of the same set of governmental contrivances. This persuasion is an article of popular metaphysics, in that it rests on an uncritically assumed solidarity of interests, rather than on an insight into the relation of business enterprise to the material welfare of those classes who are not primarily business men. This persuasion is particularly secure among the more conservative portion of the community, the business men, superior and subordinate, together with the professional classes, as contrasted with those … portions of the community who are tainted with socialistic or anarchistic notions. But since the conservative element comprises the citizens of substance and weight, and indeed the effective majority of law-abiding citizens, it follows that, with the sanction of the great body of the people, even including those who have no pecuniary interests to serve in the matter, constitutional government has, in the main, become a department of the business organization and is guided by the advice of the business men. The government has, of course, much else to do besides administering the general affairs of the business community; but in most of its work, even in what is not ostensibly directed to business ends, it is under the surveillance of the business interests.
Theory of Business Enterprise is a great classic work I think every Anarchist should read; it's over 100 years old but very relevant still.

International Bank of Azerbaijan First Victim of Devaluation
>However, problems during the financial crisis of 2008-2009 were experienced not only by IBA. The then director of the Moscow office of Fitch Ratings for Financial Institutions Vladimir Markelov told Turan that in January-June 2009 asset quality deteriorated in all the Azerbaijani banks. The worst situation in this respect was observed in IBA.
>In the structure of problem loans of IBA 18.6% of them were overdue and 9.2% - restructured, on which the recipients once again came to agreement with the bank to change the terms of payment.
>The Chairman of the NGO Center for Economic Research Gubad Ibadoglu believes that this problem occurs in the IBA and other domestic banks due to their poor management. According to him, financial managers should take into account the global financial crisis and be able to manage risks in the crisis.
>More than half (50.2%) of the shares in IBA are owned by the state. According to Ibadoglu, in the case of deterioration of the situation the government will take measures to rescue the bank. The expert believes that dealing with banks through lending will give only temporary results and there is a need for more drastic measures.
> IBA is the only bank where a majority stake is owned by the state, which is not in a hurry with its privatization. For unclear reasons, the government put aside the roadmap for restructuring, reform and privatization of IBA, prepared by the IMF in 2012. Its implementation, according to the IMF, will open opportunities for the development of private banks, as well as diversifying the risks facing the country's banking system.
>In Azerbaijan there were 46 banks. And IBA no longer holds a special position - it is bypassed by Pasha Bank, Capital Bank and others. At the moment, the ratio of the assets of Azerbaijani banks to GDP is relatively low - about 30%.

I really don't know where I land on the political spectrum, but am certainly open to the idea of anarchy. Unfortunately, there's a severe lack of competent explanations to fill all the holes I keep poking in the theory unintentionally.
Is there anyone there willing to go out of their way to take some time and convince me anarchy works? I'm looking to have a real damn debate on the topic.
My main problem of course being the lack of motivation for technological advancements and their application for globalization.

Having trouble understanding
I am having some trouble understanding the ideas behind anarchy. The philosophy is great, everyone getting along and self monitoring and shit. But I still don't get some things.
>with the lack of state comes a lack of regulation, meaning the entirety of a community can fall prey to the power developed over time by the strongest and smartest people
>entrepreneurship rewards those who create products and services that improve quality of life. Taking away this award system slows development and progress.
>no centralization means effectively mob rule, simply a far less refined version of democracy
>a community based on mutually agreed peace can easily fall victim to one or two people who have the ability to defend themselves
>no regulated infastructure means no properly maintained homes and roads unless necessary staff volunteer and agree to follow some sort of leadership
>if the internet is still available in such a scenario, there would be no way to enforce net neutrality and the world wide web is now entirely under the control of service providers
>ayncrapsim leads to oligarchies, ancommunism requires regulation to maintain
Etc. Etc. Anyone have any answers to stuff like this? I haven't exactly dug into the literature.

Anarchist Organizations
Tell us about anarchist organizations we could join, network with, and just learn from about their struggles.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queer_anarchism
>Queer anarchism (or Anarcha-queer) is an anarchist school of thought which advocates anarchism and social revolution as a means of gay liberation and abolition of homophobia, lesbophobia, transmisogyny, biphobia, transphobia, heteronormativity, heterosexism, patriarchy, and the gender binary.
umm
how are hon-pros going to get their HRT pills, SRS, facial hair electrolysis, boob-jobs and facial feminization surgeries after society is overthrown during the anarchist revolution?
there is transphobia inherent in this ideology and I think the queer community needs to understand this
Hello everyone, I created an history and social sciences board with a more academic perspective. I invite you to check it out and share some of your point of views of the world, well structure arguments about your ideas and materials to enrich our understanding of reality.
Hopefully you can visit it and if you do, please enjoy it. Luckily the board will grow and have lots of materials and opinions to share.

The State sucks
If you disagree with the rulers then you must be sick.
You are not allowed to disagree.
Many people with severe anxiety and/or depression are also anti-authoritarians. Often a major pain of their lives that fuels their anxiety and/or depression is fear that their contempt for illegitimate authorities will cause them to be financially and socially marginalized; but they fear that compliance with such illegitimate authorities will cause them existential death.
>I have also spent a great deal of time with people who had at one time in their lives had thoughts and behavior that were so bizarre that they were extremely frightening for their families and even themselves; they were diagnosed with schizophrenia and other psychoses, but have fully recovered and have been, for many years, leading productive lives. Among this population, I have not met one person whom I would not consider a major anti-authoritarian. Once recovered, they have learned to channel their anti-authoritarianism into more constructive political ends, including reforming mental health treatment.
>Many anti-authoritarians who earlier in their lives were diagnosed with mental illness tell me that once they were labeled with a psychiatric diagnosis, they got caught in a dilemma. Authoritarians, by definition, demand unquestioning obedience, and so any resistance to their diagnosis and treatment created enormous anxiety for authoritarian mental health professionals; and professionals, feeling out of control, labeled them “noncompliant with treatment,” increased the severity of their diagnosis, and jacked up their medications. This was enraging for these anti-authoritarians, sometimes so much so that they reacted in ways that made them appear even more frightening to their families.
>There are anti-authoritarians who use psychiatric drugs to help them function, but they often reject psychiatric authorities’ explanations for why they have difficulty functioning. So, for example, they may take Adderall (an amphetamine prescribed for ADHD), but they know that their attentional problem is not a result of a biochemical brain imbalance but rather caused by a boring job. And similarly, many anti-authoritarians in highly stressful environments will occasionally take prescribed benzodiazepines such as Xanax even though they believe it would be safer to occasionally use marijuana but can’t because of drug testing on their job
_It has been my experience that many anti-authoritarians labeled with psychiatric diagnoses usually don’t reject all authorities, simply those they’ve assessed to be illegitimate ones, which just happens to be a great deal of society’s authorities._
Maintaining the Societal Status Quo
>Americans have been increasingly socialized to equate inattention, anger, anxiety, and immobilizing despair with a medical condition, and to seek medical treatment rather than political remedies. What better way to maintain the status quo than to view inattention, anger, anxiety, and depression as biochemical problems of those who are mentally ill rather than normal reactions to an increasingly authoritarian society.
The reality is that depression is highly associated with societal and financial pains. One is much more likely to be depressed if one is unemployed, underemployed, on public assistance, or in debt (for documentation, see “400% Rise in Anti-Depressant Pill Use”). And ADHD labeled kids do pay attention when they are getting paid, or when an activity is novel, interests them, or is chosen by them (documented in my book Commonsense Rebellion).
In an earlier dark age, authoritarian monarchies partnered with authoritarian religious institutions. When the world exited from this dark age and entered the Enlightenment, there was a burst of energy. Much of this revitalization had to do with risking skepticism about authoritarian and corrupt institutions and regaining confidence in one’s own mind. We are now in another dark age, only the institutions have changed. Americans desperately need anti-authoritarians to question, challenge, and resist new illegitimate authorities and regain confidence in their own common sense.
In every generation there will be authoritarians and anti-authoritarians. While it is unusual in American history for anti-authoritarians to take the kind of effective action that inspires others to successfully revolt, every once in a while a Tom Paine, Crazy Horse, or Malcolm X come along. So authoritarians financially marginalize those who buck the system, they criminalize anti-authoritarianism, they psychopathologize anti-authoritarians, and they market drugs for their “cure.”
Therefore if you are for a nationalist government you are against modern and illegitimate multicultural governments.
TLDR Nationalism desires the same fate for modern multiculti establishments as Anarchism does
Anarchist Militias
Hello /anarcho/. In the United Sates, there has been a huge increase and right wing reactionary militia groups in the past decade, and all i can think about is why doesn't anarchists have something similar? The historic truth project
Hello /anarcho/,>"I remember saying once to Arthur Koestler, ‘History stopped in 1936’, at which he nodded in immediate understanding. We were both thinking of totalitarianism in general, but more particularly of the Spanish civil war. Early in life I have noticed that no event is ever correctly reported in a newspaper, but in Spain, for the first time, I saw newspaper reports which did not bear any relation to the facts, not even the relationship which is implied in an ordinary lie. I saw great battles reported where there had been no fighting, and complete silence where hundreds of men had been killed. I saw troops who had fought bravely denounced as cowards and traitors, and others who had never seen a shot fired hailed as the heroes of imaginary victories; and I saw newspapers in London retailing these lies and eager intellectuals building emotional superstructures over events that had never happened. I saw, in fact, history being written not in terms of what happened but of what ought to have happened according to various ‘party lines’. Yet in a way, horrible as all this was, it was unimportant. It concerned secondary issues — namely, the struggle for power between the Comintern and the Spanish left-wing parties, and the efforts of the Russian Government to prevent revolution in Spain. But the broad picture of the war which the Spanish Government presented to the world was not untruthful. The main issues were what it said they were. But as for the Fascists and their backers, how could they come even as near to the truth as that? How could they possibly mention their real aims? Their version of the war was pure fantasy, and in the circumstances it could not have been otherwise."
>"This kind of thing is frightening to me, because it often gives me the feeling that the very concept of objective truth is fading out of the world. After all, the chances are that those lies, or at any rate similar lies, will pass into history. How will the history of the Spanish war be written? If Franco remains in power his nominees will write the history books, and (to stick to my chosen point) that Russian army which never existed will become historical fact, and schoolchildren will learn about it generations hence. But suppose Fascism is finally defeated and some kind of democratic government restored in Spain in the fairly near future; even then, how is the history of the war to be written? What kind of records will Franco have left behind him? Suppose even that the records kept on the Government side are recoverable — even so, how is a true history of the war to be written? For, as I have pointed out already, the Government, also dealt extensively in lies. From the anti-Fascist angle one could write a broadly truthful history of the war, but it would be a partisan history, unreliable on every minor point. Yet, after all, some kind of history will be written, and after those who actually remember the war are dead, it will be universally accepted. So for all practical purposes the lie will have become truth."
>"I know it is the fashion to say that most of recorded history is lies anyway. I am willing to believe that history is for the most part inaccurate and biased, but what is peculiar to our own age is the abandonment of the idea that history could be truthfully written. In the past people deliberately lied, or they unconsciously coloured what they wrote, or they struggled after the truth, well knowing that they must make many mistakes; but in each case they believed that ‘facts’ existed and were more or less discoverable. And in practice there was always a considerable body of fact which would have been agreed to by almost everyone. If you look up the history of the last war in, for instance, the Encyclopaedia Britannica, you will find that a respectable amount of the material is drawn from German sources. A British and a German historian would disagree deeply on many things, even on fundamentals, but there would still be that body of, as it were, neutral fact on which neither would seriously challenge the other. It is just this common basis of agreement, with its implication that human beings are all one species of animal, that totalitarianism destroys. Nazi theory indeed specifically denies that such a thing as ‘the truth’ exists. There is, for instance, no such thing as ‘Science’. There is only ‘German Science’, ‘Jewish Science’, etc. The implied objective of this line of thought is a nightmare world in which the Leader, or some ruling clique, controls not only the future but the past. If the Leader says of such and such an event, ‘It never happened’ — well, it never happened. If he says that two and two are five — well, two and two are five. This prospect frightens me much more than bombs — and after our experiences of the last few years that is not a frivolous statement."
Let's have an Orwell thread.
