Hello /anarcho/,

I am gathering historic truths, mainly relating to the horrible nature of states and more importantly - their consistent failure throughout history. But, I do not know if this is entirely true. As far as i've noticed, a large amount of actual progress is just done by independent organizations like msf.org and so on and so forth.

Coming back to my original query, I am looking for information to write a paper for all anarchists and potential anarchists alike. A compilation similar to :
https://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/MURDER.HTM

Any information even remotely related would be fine. Like say the attempt to ban alcohol has been tried in many countries but repeatedly failed. (therefore we can conclude that this method of doing things is shit)

Another example is that ALL countries which treated drug users are patients saw a sharp decline in violence and "drug hoods" etc, as opposed to ALL countries which treated drug users as criminals, saw an increase in violence and other criminal activities related to drugs, but at the same time saw no drop in overall drug usage.

http://www.healthpovertyaction.org/campaigns/rethink-the-war-on-drugs/
(scroll down and read the PDF report)

There was also a UN committee consisting of South American PMs etc which came to the same conclusion.

This paper should also serve as an important reminder on why history is useful and on what contexts. With a focus on failures of state actions.

Thanks

Well, I suppose Kropotkin's The State: Its Historic Role would fit the part.

That shows that the state was successful in treating individuals for drug addiction. If in fact it can be shown.

I would focus on the part where the state plays the largest role in creating crime and therefore criminals via it's efforts to "combat crime" either real or imagined.

Private institutions, dedicated groups of individuals, or dedicated individuals can treat drug users. Only the state can punish them as a rule. Thats something to focus on too.
