Can you see about making a guide for noobs to animation like myself? You could make a stickied thread that contains useful links to tutorials and programs and such.

Thanks.

I have a few pdfs that can be useful, not sure if they're small enough to fit in though.

The swastika is not a symbol of peace ffs. It's a symbol which has correspondence with the seasons, and 5 or 4 elemental systems, reincarnation, the black sun, and several other things but it's not a sign of peace (or war).

I have an entire book about swastikas. I think I put it in my /fringe/ mega library under misc. Check it out.

Intriguing! I'll check it out.

you gotta learn how to draw before learning how to animate tho

I feel what they REALLY mean with this is to learn what makes a drawing able to maximize the communication of itself.

Noobs won't know what proper staging, silhouette or overlapping forms are, so if they drew a character, it would end up looking like an amorphous blob. If they knew these presentation skills, even if they drew like shit, the point would come across regardless. That way they can start learning sooner until they reach the point where better animation unavoidably means better drawing.

Do any of you have any highly preferred software that you use? I don't know anything about animation software and I'm trying to decide between picking Flash or Toon Boon. The software itself probably doesn't make that big a deal, though.

I like TVpaint and Flash CS5. I can't adapt to the UI of Toonboom for some weird reason.

still got proportions and symmetry right, and knows where the arms and legs bend, some people cant even get that right. i got your point tho good animations shine even with simple designs, and you can get there by emulating what you see.

Well, just draw whatever you want on a paper, animate stupid shit you want,

look at tutorials that you want to draw better at, look at pictures for details you don't know,

look at some books about how to draw.

Repeat this. Use Flash or AnimatePro to animate.

Don't bother with animation until you can draw, nig
