So do any of you guys over here in /ani/ know of any (good) animation software that has some kind of rotoscoping feature?

I wanted to try making a character swap animatic kinda thing, nothing fancy

I know I could just draw over frame by frame but my hope was with software that allowed for the import and tracing of video it could be done with some lazy efficiency and make the whole process smoother

Flash 2015 added video support I think.

I might end up trying Toon Boom since I know it has the feature and hell if it's good enough for TV it's more than enough for my dumb ass

Flash does have video support but it doesn't really run that well for me, but I must confess that I have a shitty computer that can barely run Flash in the first place.

If you want a free solution and can run Blender, you can go into the Video Editing view, drop in a video, rotoscope over that with the Grease Pencil, and then just render out the result with an OpenGL render.

That's assuming you have some sort of nVidia GPU. If you have an ATi GPU, though, it might not work that well.

tvpaint should do the job. It's miles ahead when it comes down to drawing features.
