This shit is a fucking dream come true.

>very comfy and capable frame-by-frame animation tools

>better brushes than photoshop

>muh freedumbs software

Takes a short while to get used to the timeline stuff, but it already feels amazing to me.

 No.722

Been donating to krita. Glad to see they're getting shit done.

If anyone cares about freedumb software you should:

1: pay these people like 5 bucks a month or some shit

2: set a google alert and watch them progress consistently

3: burn adobe down

I love it, but adjusting my UI is a pain. How do you guys place the time line at the bottom or top?

Just drag the panel?

I've been using the animation for krita a lot and there's still a lot of work to be done with it.

Exporting the files is a pain in the ass because it doesn't convert to any video formats, just sequences of images- so I have to compile this images together in a video editing software somewhere.

Also, if the file is too big Krita will start overload and just completely stop working then crash. So now what have to do is get the images then rotoscope it or do some other bullshit and redraw my rough animations on another program.

This is a rough animation that I was working in:

The first gif was running smoothly.

The second gif started to crash constantly and it took a lot of time for some of the frames to render.

I should wait for the program to develop a little bit more, but it's one of the most satisfying and efficient programs I've used to this date.

At least it gives a good excuse to make apng files. Just drop the frames to apngasm, set delay to 1/24, and be done.

Pic related took like 10 seconds to do. (excluding animation of course)

I tried doing that, but it repeatedly went to the bottom right ;__;

 No.733

If you're on linux you can use ImageMagick to convert a sequence of frames into a gif, apng, etc.

Among other things.

In a perfect world, Krita's animation would get polished to the point where no one bothers with Flash anymore.

>inb4 but you can make good animations with flash!

You can, but it's not worth a whole lot when the whole interface encourages you to pick and place a bunch, and then tween to get movement.

>>728

The animation looks alright anon; post it when it's finished too.

Thanks, but I lost my .kra files when my hard drive shat on me meaning I can't finish it.

>no one bothers with Flash anymore

One troublesome aspect of this is that Flash can export to .swf files, which is pretty much the leading/only format for animation outside youtube. A lot of art sites support swf, but pretty much none of them support video files (DA does but it requires some special procedure/quality to get it uploaded). Getting a good video encoder for krita also seems unlikely.

Also, unless Krita gets some kind of tweening support, I doubt Flash is going anywhere. Tweens are used even by some good animators like Ryanide, plus it's important for panning the camera and effects like mist. It's also better for performance/memory to tween the movement of a painted background for instance, instead of re-drawing it onto every single frame.

>Video encoders

You can probably try out Swivel for any .swf conversions to a video format without loss of quality. The UI is a bit dated but it works like a charm for my animations.

 No.789

>>784

What?

The problem is that art websites DO NOT SUPPORT VIDEO FILES

Converting a swf to a video is the complete opposite of what you want.

How do you disable mousewheel zooming in Krita?

Check the preferences?
