Cute girls freezing to death in the Antarctic.
A new genre emerges, so far we have:
Never let it be said that the Japanese aren't creative trend setters.
I would, unironically, love if the last episode was actually that.
I wonder if they’ll be forced to eat each other to survive.
CGDCC (cute girls doing cute cannibalism)
I too would like for this to happen but knowing the japs and their eternally shit taste, it won't
When will we see cute girls doing cute mass murder?
And proving that glasses girls are always the worst girls.
Unfortunately we didn't get any cannibalism or icy deaths this episode. Maybe next time :^)
What a great episode. Megu's bitchiness has been foreshadowed sufficiently enough throughout the previous episodes so it didn't come out of the blue. However, as expected of maturing young adults in a serious setting without any romcom-style trappings, she was self-aware enough to realize that she was being a massive piece of shit and with a bit of MC (and co.) good will, was able to move past it. I dreaded the thought that it'd stretch on agonizingly and postpone the departure to Antarctica, but luckily that wasn't the case. This show needed this. Well written drama to flesh out and mature the characters elevate CGDCT to another level entirely, and this show doesn't disappoint. It's been consistently great in pacing, characters, and themes throughout. I just thank God she didn't get to go to Antarctica with them. Too many SoL shows do that shit where they introduce the last girl at the last minute, and it just drags it all down.
We're finally off to see the Penguins. I expect they'll have an episode or two of travel, and then we'll be in the South Pole just long enough to have a nice mini-arc and wrap it all up.
Ain't that the fucking truth. Glasses = trash.
Fucking glasses trying to ruin the show with her drama.
One of the Ramen shows this season has a cute(ish) trap doing murder.
I didn't really like the episode that much, the friend being a bitch felt too melodramatic to me, I dunno. I'd rather just have the main four playing off each other trying to over come problems together, whereas this was all a Kimari problem that ultimately I don't see having a pay off or relevance.
What a shit episode. They should just take glasses with them and push her off the ship halfway.
Fags. Spoiler that shit. Won’t watch it until tonight
Protip: only enter seasonal threads after you're caught up.
Clearly game breaking things should be spoilered but don't rely on it, i've been burned more than once by visiting seasonal threads too early.
I like the OP, so I made a poor webm of it. Pls no bully.
What would an anime The Thing be like?
>when you realize you spent 1 million yen for nothing
They got a refund on the tickets.
Now this was forced drama. Both characters were being ridiculously stubborn for silly reasons, the impetus for it was contrived, and the resolution was unsatisfying.
It was mostly for character development purposes, but yea it felt forced and not that interesting. I would rather the drama come from challenges to overcome in Antarctica (like the training camp) rather than mundane shit. The last two episodes have been kind of meh because they've been concentrating on the character drama rather than antarctica.
Last weeks drama episode was legit, but this one was nothing but forced. Whoops I dropped my passport. Oh what a coincidence the embassy is closed. Muh personality demands I stay behind. Uh-oh we can't reschedule our shitty tickets. Teehee passport was in my purse this whole time. Forced as HELL.
A bit of drama every once in a while is good and fleshes out characters while giving a bit of a mental break from serious goal-oriented go-to-Antarctica shenanigans. Not twice in a row. That's just shifting the focus, especially when you have to jerryrig it in with contrived bullshit like this.
I like the reaction faces.
Well, figure the next 2 episodes are them farting around on the ship and then the final 4 episodes will be them freezing their titties off while looking for Shirase's mother.
Or am I being too optimistic here?
probably at least one episode of them farting around in australia before the leaves.
I thought this was something else for a second.
>What would an anime The Thing be like?
No, that shit was pure horror. I dont want qt girls in that type of situation.
Call our pal junji ito and maybe he'll hook us up.
>episode 7 is the starting line
>but the boat still hasn't left
I'm so glad they drew lipstick on both lips and didn't do the shit they do usually with putting it only on the bottom. That makes it so much hotter.
I like the artstyle they have going on, with heavy highlights.
I actually want this show to turn out exactly like the thing. That would be 10/10
Who will get raped first?
Is this an actual sub? If so I'm watching.
>CGDCC (cute girls doing cute cannibalism)
it's as real as it gets
It's too bad Hinata's got in the way.
Anyway this episode was a lot better than the last two, we got cute sperg's sperging and some actual interesting drama instead of forced bs.
I'm liking all of it so far. Great premise and comfy as fuck.
I hope they all die by the end and haunt the ship.
Can't wait until they get to the deserted camp and spooky things start happening and everyone dies.
What if the whole anime was just THE THING and we were lead into a false sense of security?
>you suddenly realize shorty is really stacked
how ere you watching
Does When They Cry count?
My Isis can't possibly be this cute
My harem can't possibly be this explosive
My little Somali pirates can't possibly be this bloodthirsty
There has to be a workable I am the captain now shot.
Come on, Anon, The Thing can be the cute girl!
Please, that's hardly the worst thing to happen to cute anime girls
I can't wait until they meet the antarctica "people" and things go bad for them
This is actually an adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness.
Anime girls trope finds an ancient one. What happens hext?
They become shoggoth
>so many of them
8 episodes to finally see some ice.
And the series will finish with them dying and a reminder you shouldn't want to go to Antarctica.
Seems like it's going to be another episode of boat travel. Being seasick for days sounds like absolute hell. Also Kimari's bangs being explained was kind of fun.
>training arc begins
Was totally expecting them to go overboard or the ship to crash into the ice
I now have a fetish I never knew I had.
why is this show so unpopular?
It takes them too much time to reach South Pole.
I thought it'd be about epic adventures there but in the end it's mostly about the prep time.
>11 eps about the journey
>1 ep about them sitting in the snow doing jack shit
One small step for a human, one giant leap for Japanese highschool girls.
Now time for 4 episodes of them fighting aliens and reptilians to save the kidnapped mom.
They better step it up, this episode was boring af
Aren't we heading for tears here? Shirase's mom would have had to stay alive, lost in the Arctic, for quite some years. Or been rescued by some nerd expedition. Both of those options are contrived, unappealing, and stretch suspension of belief a bit far. At best, wouldn't she find her corpse/grave?
Also RIP cute Shirase.
Either they'll find nothing, an icicle, or Hitler's last fortress.
Well, or they'll just find nothing and Shirase works through her feeling with the expedition leader and gets adopted.
It's probably the Nazi UFO base, that's the only one really in tone with this series.
The last 10 minutes of ep. 12 will show the scenes from the OP. E.g. them frolicking in the snow for a bit and then the show ends.
Nothing will be resolved as usual.
>alive, lost in the Arctic
not likely, I think
>rescued by some nerd expedition
>those options are contrived, unappealing, and stretch suspension of belief
I'm guessing she will find some kind of memento, like a diary, or her gear. But not necessarily a body.
She was killed by the thing.
I wish only one romanization existed. Such a pain to see the same word written differently.
And almost a whole episode about autismo girl. The environment is better but not the protagonists.
>not translating merry christmas as happy holidays in current year+3
That translator will probably be fired.
>>not translating merry christmas as happy holidays in current year+3
>That translator will probably be fired.
Based nips and based translator.
Now that they're actually at Antarctica, I wish they had spent more time on the prepwork and journey. I liked seeing them doing the camp training and the limitations and unique aspects of life on a boat. I was really hoping they'd showcase more of the rigors of life in the Pole, too, but they've got a cozy home with heated floors, individual rooms, and other creature comforts. Apparently more drama and character development, something you can get in literally any other anime, had more priority than showcasing something special.
What do the girls even do on the expedition? They've done some physical labor, like moving boxes around, delivering snacks, and other minor stuff, but what else? Do they just sit around and chat all day while filming every so often?
>unique aspects of life on a boat
We don't need more of that
It'd be cool if the whole first season was a bait and switch for the 2nd season where things go full john carpenter.
>nothing happens - the show
what a boring piece of shit
>inb4 comfyfags come crawling out of the woodwork
No, fuck off.
The secret behind Antarctica is finally unveiled: there is no ice there, it's just white paint.
Why introduce something completely irrelevant, last minute, and then resolve it entirely within the same episode. Shirase was pretty manly at the end there, though. She's pretty much worst girl but she at least manages to be pretty cool.
What were they melting the ice with the steam for?

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni
Never forget that humans are killing the planet!
That one was a bit of a downer. Gotta admit I got a little emotional at the end. Teared up a wee bit fam. I'm glad they went all the way with that subplot, instead of chickening out and having her be inexplicably safe and sound.
That was too sad, man. The have a couple episodes only to try and settle that feels trip.
They don't. Just one more episode left.
Southern hemisphere has different stars visible than the northern hemisphere so it makes sense to have an observatory there
But seriously, japanese drama usually don't get to me because they overplay emotions so much. Most drama usually goes well with me, untill some character starts screaming due to japan being so bad at socializing people. This episode however was right on point.
Yeah that episode was the tearjerker
The funniest episode I saw was the one in which they were seasick on the ship
They took a kinda long time to get to Antarctica but at least they did get there. I think it could have been better but it was ok
Yeah, I expected something else but I didn't drop it so I guess I didn't find it too bad.
>dat character development
Holy fuck that was a great ending. I don't remember feeling this satisfied with a closing in a long time.
Characters had meaningful development.
Art was great during the whole season. Not just the first few episodes.
Althoug it had a slow start, the main and side plots really got my attention from middle to end, and it paid off.
Very colorful ending
The southern lights looked great
Great stuff man. I almost lost it when Shirase got that text from her mom. If she had reacted with tears, I'm sure I would have as well. I sure hope this sells well since it definitely deserves it.

Cute Anime Girls Doing The Thing when?
