Cataphracts never take any extra damage from kamayuks, because of their hidden anti-bonus-armour (tested it myself).

In post-imp they die in 3 hits and one cata can solo 3 kams and with mass fights unit placement and micro will matter because trample comes in and kamas can hit over each other, but they just don't do enough damage to be a viable counter i think.

Kams outrpoduce Cats by a large amount though, not only do the castles cost less, but the unit and upgrades cost less, so i can have 3-4 castles and FU kams while you struggle to get to 3 castles and pump out underupgraded Cats

Even base catas (assuming you kept up with the upgrades from previous ages) don't do that bad against kamas.

If you wanted a counter you are better off with halbs that do more damage and don't cost gold and if we are making assumptions about state of the game if I don't already have them I'm not going to take expensive cata techs and but invest in arbs, hand cvill s, champs or siege instead.

We can argue whether one unit is better that other in a massing scenario but it's all retarded, you will never get into a situation where your supposedly FU kams fight unupgraded catas because nobody would let it happen.

Picked it up some years ago when it came out on HD, before that i gamed every now and then on gameranger.

I consider myself able to hold my ground amongst most players on HD, i mainly play on AoF since i consider it the new meta. I do best when i have civs like the Byzantines, Incas/ Aztecs, and Indians/ Slavs/Persians. I like my cannons and my flexibility, even if it comes with an added gold cost

I started playing with some older friends about a year before the HD release. We'd have 6-hour LAN parties almost every day of the week before most of us got jobs. Despite this, there was one player who was much better than the rest of us, near-pro-tier. We recently got together out of hype for the new expansion and he handily beat our team of 4 in 15 minutes. His team didn't do shit.

I'm too slow and spend too much time practicing guitar and Melee to practice AOE.
