Ultimately it's a European, specifically Anglo-Saxon, mythology. That attracts people to it that can't dissociate their politics from what is suppose to be interpreted as myth and not straight up narrative.

to be fair, Tolkien and the west knew less about Natsoc than we do today, and even less about the political realities and philosophies that drove the Germans in WW2.

That being said, I consider Tolkiens work to be the most redpilled book of our time, and the greatest fiction work of all time, something we will never see again. It is truly the last epic. You read LOTR and the extended writings, and you understand why people clung to tales of epic heroes and their deeds, and why they were seen as important and worth saving

Also even if it didn't, you'd still get NatSocs as Tolkien's world is very Germanic and pagan, even if tempered with a lot of Christian theology as well.
