2 weeks without any posts or mod login will get a board deleted. I don't see it dying unless 8chan as a whole dies.

>>6
I was going to make some threads to start off yesterday, but I had to go to sleep.

I'm not sure how to let people know that this exists, I heard you get autobanned for mentioning 8chan in 4chan. Not sure if that's true though.

Not to be rude or whatever, but how are you not at a professional level after that many years dedicated to the craft? Even if you weren't studying 10 hours a day, after that many years you should be pro or near pro, especially if you are online in art communities (which I assume you are if you are here).

The issue is more that it's really hard to "make it" as an artist more than anything else. It's equal parts finding an audience and finding the style you like working in the most.
But of course, learning how to make highly-skilled, photorealistic pieces is of ultimate importance. If you can draw *anything* accurately, you'll learn how to simplify anything you want to a specific style.

This can take *years* of practice, regardless of the medium. It's why you don't see many "professionals" under the age of 30, either in the fine arts or in animation.

Yes, i made a similar half-statue of Hanako in her casualwear (originally intented as a bust, so the head ended up oversized) almost a year ago.
Also yes, i am making the other four (making another Hanako because why not).
I posted a better view of the Lilly figurine to both the KSGeneral thread in /vg/ and the OC thred in /ks/ some time ago if you're interested.
Of the WiP figurines, Rin is locked into the school uniform look, the others are early enough in the process to go either way.

You'd be surprised.

What do you consider "professional"? I count it as having a job in the industry, not doing little commissions on my deviantART account.
"Professional level" art is also subjective. Jaime Jones doesn't do flat out photorealistic work, but he's an amazing professional artist. Photorealism doesn't make the drawing professional. You're just a great draftsman if you can manage that.

I like your style! And you have some interesting designs, too. Went through your works and you've made a lot of progress in such a short time.

That's a cute style. I'd really like to see some more of your works.

I've never been in any kind of an art community. I hope this will be a good experience.

Pic related is one of my older works, but also one of the few that I've managed to finish.

Q: Any Galleries?
> I've been in 5-6 galleries, had shows dedicated to me, had a patron who stopped paying me, had galleries kick me out for a lack of sales, had galleries rip me off for wall space without a single sale... I'm done with pay-to-expo galleries, which is most of what there is in this country. I had more success with magazines than with the pro art circle.

I might open my own gallery when I have some money someday, and do it right. Until then, food stamps and retail jobs!

Pic is some Monster Girl Quest fanart I did this summer before returning to uni. I'm nowhere near where I want to be, but hopefully in a few years I'll be great enough to get a foot in some good illustration industries.

Th- thank you, I don't have a tumblr or anything (I mean I do but I just use it for "inspiration" and reblogging) I've been meaning to try to draw more finished things... Just been a lazy ass this past year. All I got to show for it is sketchbook pages filled with a mish mash of people (Pic related, sorry about the quality and size) but really, thanks. That little comment helped me a lot, you have no idea.

That whale piece is really cool by the way, love the colors you chose.

Thanks chief, it's all done in Photoshop though. I need to learn Illustrator but everytime I try and get to grips with it it kicks my ass. The trade off is that it's much harder to learn than PS, but it offers much greater control, non-destructive editing and vector output. If I'm gonna get paid for logos and stuff though then I genuinely need to get Illustrator down, not prepared to give a client non-scalable iconography, completely unprofessional of me.

That said I just made massive versions at my previous employer and scaled down. Quality drop is negligible so it did the task it needed to

>Q: How long have you been creating art?
I have been drawing since I was little but I have had a very long break.
>Q: What is/are your preferred medium(s)?
Pen and paper
>Q: Amateur or Professional?
Amateur, but I don't know. I might just be a beginner skill-wise.
>Q: Any Galleries?
None yet.

I've been thinking about getting a trip and start posting all my art under it so that I could easier get help from you guys. Would that be okay or would it just be seen as attention whoring?

>/art/ is dead
I know more people have to be on this site, at the very least. Are there other boards similar to this one?

 No.2496

>>2494
It's not that there aren't people, it's that all the art boards have a big lack of interest among those people.

Here's some more boards, but they're all more or less dead. >>1179

 No.2497

>>2493
So I can post under a trip?

>>2494
There is >>/loomis/

But it too has a pretty small population (4 regular posters in comparison to /art/'s 9)

>>2496
>a big lack of interest among those people.
This is true and a big problem.

People simply don't post their art here and there aren't that many people commenting either.

 No.2498

>there's like ten art boards each with their own snowflake differences
Why not unify and have a better, more active board.

 No.2499

>>2498
It would probably start fights about who is supposed to rule the board.

With 10 boards means that there are 10 people who wants to own an art related board.

Our best bet would simply be to support one another here and as our skill grows expand into more mainstream boards (start drawthreads on a featured board) and then advertise this place.

 No.2500

>>2498
Because everyone wants to be the owner of a board. Sometimes people make new boards even though there's no difference whatsoever to another board, it's one of the largest problems with 8chan IMO.

Also everyone shills their board in slightly different times/places so all of them end up having at least some kind of traffic at some point in time.
