Orthographic perspective is a pain in the ass. If you're doing a game that needs to be in that perspective, you should really, really do it in 3d.

If you learn to draw in perspective, you won't have much problem with isometric/orthographic. Just learn to draw first. Here's some tuts to put your mind in the zone:
