I don't know why, but this feels worst than when it started on /pol/ and /v/ back on cuckchan. I dunno man, it seems to me like art is the field that need not to be censored (then again, as a guy in an art-related field, it truly is a field where you can't voice any bad opinion, but still).

I think the only thing worthwile on ic is the self promotion threads, occasionally.

A lot of ic is focused on concept art and illustration. I'm more interested in fine art, which would be neat to get more of on /art/.

I also think it's problematic when people devote their time only to "gitting gud", loomis and vipplu, while giving no thought to personal expression or concept. I've been trying to push this on /ic/ but it doesn't seem to catch on.

I think it has to do with the type of people that go to chan boards.

People who value creativity and personal expression are probably turned off by the culture of harsh criticism and insults, so that only more durable types who are determined to get results remain.

No, but I think there's a difference between the creativity of concept artists who draw to represent ideas and artists which draw to represent emotions or "personal expression".

I suppose that I'm mainly talking about the personal expression part.

Don't you think the entertainment business needs more personal expression? Around 96% of Hollywood productions are reproductions of movies or books. A big part of the game industry works around proven formulas to get a safe money return. A small percentage of the entertainment business content brings something new. Isn't that sad? It's the new generation who can change that. And without innovation and personal expression, the entertainment business will probably stay the same.
