Hello /art/ I want to make a graphic novel. I have an idea for the book, it's kinda strange, it's about a kid who goes to outer space and dies. But I have 0 art skills. I need someone to do the art but I'm poor as fuck. I barely started a job but idk how much you need to pay artists. Also, this will be over the internet as well so how would I get my vision across implying I do find someone? How would I even explain how much panels and stuff? And where would I even find a good artist. Btw this will be an eBook, and I will self publish because no one will accept a book about a child passing away in outer space.

Anyways these are just some answers I have and I was wondering if you guys can help.

>I have an idea (...)

>But I have 0 art skills.

If idea's good, then your art skills won't matter that much. Pic related - Onepunch-man is extremely popular despite its shitty style. I'm sure that with a few months of hard training (and a good book) you'll get on that level.

>I need someone to do the art but I'm poor as fuck

Then learn how to draw?

I'm telling you this as an artist: if I'm going to work for free, then I want to at least draw my own ideas and own my work. I also don't want to have in portfolio something that's too controversial.

>how much you need to pay artists

It's hard to say, everything depends on a skill level you're looking for. I guess that you could find someone to do 1 page for 80$ on a decent level (no colors of course).

>how would I get my vision across

>How would I even explain how much panels and stuff?

Google "storyboard". Pic related.

Basically: you're drawing everything yourself, without any details. Then artist redraw your rough sketch.

>And where would I even find a good artist

Good artist that would work for free? lmao

Learn to draw myself? How long would that even take before I'm great because to me art Is as important as anything else if not more in anything.

Also 80 bucks a page sounds way expensive for a new wage slave like myself.

Btw I'm not looking for an artist to work for free.

>How long would that even take before I'm great

Since art is so important... It takes roughly 2-3 years of drawing everyday, 8 hours daily to git gud.

Since you're a wage slave, you could probably draw only 2 hours/day...so 10 years?

As for hiring an artist: it's either a low quality or a high price (because it takes so much time to git gud).

Good luck, you'll need it.
