I have a question for you guys.

A friend of mine is a decent cartoon artist and draws a ton of stuff... but on *MS Paint*. Yeah, ew. I know. She thinks all art programs either cost a lot of money or are too confusing and refuses to ever use them. She only uses the straight line tool, bucket tool, and the curve tool to do her work. The main problem is the anti aliasing on MS Paint. It's non existent. Her art always comes out with terrible edges and it sucks. (Check the picture I added to this post as an example.) So is there any super basic art programs that are very cheap or free that I could tie her up and force her to use?

Pirate Sai for her. It has a very simplistic interface that shouldn't scare her like Photoshop. But it has some complex features once you learn it.

GIMP is free but looks kinda spooky like photoshop and the recent upgrade just... confuses me.

Krita is also free but buggy and might also be intimidating.

Firealpaca is free and relatively simple I guess.

Paint.NET is sort of like MS paint except with more features. It also has a similar curve tool except better.

She's probaly obssesed with homestuck.

If that's the case, tell her that that fag hussie uses photoshop with the binary brush (that's how it's called on sai) to get that ms paint look.

I hate doing pixelart in anything except MS Paint. It just feels wrong.

MSPaint actually works quite good for pixel art, especially with the way right click works as the secondary color rather than opening some useless popup menu.

Photoshop is of course a million times better if you learn how to use it well, but that's not necessarily a reasonable thing to expect. The more techniques you learn and shortcuts you memorize, the more you start to realize that other programs just aren't as convenient.

Seconding Sai, It's pretty easy to get for free in English IIRC and it shouldn't be too complicated to use.

Never did pixel ever before but so far I'm liking Paint SAI but Fire Alpaca has the better line tools.

Why would a Chinese deity from the Shang dynasty use a swastika? It's the wan symbol for eternity because it's a circle and it's also for a myriad. Keep up with the news, buuuuud.
