Hello o/

Im going to the art middle-school this year and i wanted to try Opencanvas 6 so i bought graphic tablet (bamboo MTE-450) yesterday. First time it just feels wierd but after hour of making circles and stuff, i tried to create something …

So i got some questions :

- Opencanvas 6 or Paint tool Sai ?

- Which tablet is best for animations/painting?

(Also my english is not perfect so exuse my grammar ^^)

Thanks.

I think people should hold off on tablets till they understand everything excluding painting and stuff like that.

I got an intuos 4 and photoshop, but to be honest I never use either. Sketchbooks are just so much more accessible. I would say get a bunch of sketchbooks and fill them all up rather than worry about a tablet or what program to use.

Step 1: 1 year traditional. Step 2: Digital, then cry at how bad you're at it. Step 3: Keep drawing traditionally and slowly learn your software in spare time. Step 4: Draw.

Paint tool Sai is fine. Most people use Sai and/or Photoshop. Stick with Sai for now, should be fine.

Your tablet is fine for painting. For animation a cintiq or other monitor-category tablet is the best(although it's expensive). A regular tablet like yours is the second best. You can make do with it for a long time.

>Most people use Sai and/or Photoshop.

I forgot to mention, that this is only true for japanese/animu/asian artists. Westerners 95% of the time just use Photoshop for painting(other 5% is Painter).

Hey /art/ how do you go about studying artists that you like? I'm worried that I may just be copying images with little purpose to.

If you're really good with stuff like photoshop before starting to draw you might as well buy a shitty tablet with pen pressure and just go digital.

If you have absolutely zero experience then yeah.
