>>4175

Wow, from the thumbnail I thought you just copy-pasted the pic and posted it as a joke.

Very nice work.

 No.4179

>>4176

Thanks, I almost gave up in the beginning because it didn't seem to go anywhere. Glad I kept at it.

I enjoyed working on this one.

>mfw babby tier sketcher still drawing circles

>only have pencils and paper

>just started with "Fun With a Pencil"

>have a few pages worth of circles in my sketch book now

>mfw

Oh boy.

At first glance I also thought

>>4175

was an anon just cropping it to make it look smaller as a joke, opened up in new tab, saw how well done it was, died a bit inside.

>>4182

Also great.

I can't into shadows yet so I just put a cross in the middle of it in GIMP and tried to copy the helmet with each part relative to the other. How is it?

>>4175

>1st reply

>thumnail looks like it's the same pic

Fucking nice.

>>4208

Try reading perspective made easy and doing a few exercises from drawabox.com. They really helped me grasp the concept of perspective and ligh(though I can't do shit in pratice yet).

>>4216

The helmet looks flat somehow.

just started drawing, been messing around with tracing

 No.4225

>>4222

Yeah. The front got rounder but the back got flatter.

How's this?

 No.4238

>>4227

Not bad. You could use a lot more value still, a lot of your drawing is pure white, but in the picture there's bright color pretty much only at the top of the helmet and at the neck of the chainmail.

 No.4321

>>4175

Clearly the best one, so far.

 No.4568

File: 1448484076371.jpg (932.59 KB, 1240x1395, 8:9, armorstudy.jpg)

>>4175

You managed to capture the shape nicely. Well done.

>>4223

It's an alright start, but don't make tracing become a habit. It's usually not very good if you want to improve in the long run.

 No.4569

>>4568

What tha fug man, I wasn't paying attention to the OP and I thought you just reposted the photo

The shapes and overall color balance are off, but it's almost like you improved it over the photo.

 No.4573

>>4569

Hah, I guess that's a good thing. Thanks.

Another guy said exactly the same about the colors and the helmets proportions. I think you're right. The helmet ended up way too narrow, and in general I should be more brave with using colors. It's a common issue with my studies.

 No.4574

>>4569

>but it's almost like you improved it over the photo.

This, OP's pic looks like a bulky armor compared to >>4568

Meanwhile I'm just here, trying to properly draw circles.

;-;

 No.4576

>>4574

We'll make it

 No.4588

Hey /art/ I've got a question for you:

How does your painting process begin and end? I'm really good at sketching/drawing but I am an absolutely shit painter.

I never really understood the steps to paint properly, mind helping a guy out?
