Don't ever. EVER. Try to pursue a "style" if you don't have a solid grasp on every single bit of fundamentals and can easily draw relatively realistically from reference and imagination. Doesn't have to be photo realistic, but seriously don't go after it like that.
"Style" is just how artists with a grasp on all that prefer to have things look, and are essentially changing things to suit personal preferences while still adhering to the established rules. Stuff like really curvy hips still adhere to an internal logic of ratio and their shape is still dictated by understanding of perspective.
I say all this because I did basically exactly what you're talking about for most of my life, and only recently have started to unfuck my bad habits.
Well, I was never in pursuit of a style, but I never took any formal classes and always drew things from my imagination.
I mean, I get it, I want to draw the cool stuff too, but you're just going to defecate all over the page if you don't know what you're doing.
A lot of people will still like what you're putting out, but if you'd feel uncomfortable showing it to anyone worth their salt then you should seriously practice the basics at least a little bit.
At the very absolute least, try constructing things out of geometry and shapes instead of just doing the entire thing at once.
I just don't want to see someone go down the same shit I did.
