fun fact: I actually made the current logo. I didn't really think much of it at the time, I just hated the initial blurry piece of crap so I made a quick vectorized version. I didn't even expect copypaste to replace the "official" logo with it, so I didn't really try to do anything fancy or different.

Anyway, generally for logo designs you'll want to avoid overlapping text with other shapes unless it's some very artistic solution. The background should usually be some flat color or transparent or it becomes sort of cluttered looking.

Here's a couple mockups.

This, I like the original 8chan logo, having the infinity sign and 8 at the same time is a bit redundant, while having the ∞ double as both an 8 for "8chan" and ∞ for "infinitechan" like we already have (and like the 2nd pics in both >>4559 and >>4561 ) is a brilliant idea that just works perfectly, spruce up the ∞/8 symbol, but don't change the concept.

Would you take something like this, for an example, other anon who seems to have a similar opinion to mine?

Same concept, smaller 8, same relationship between 8 and chan as >>4561 but with the size of the 8 based on the H instead of the C, the A altered to look more like the font currently used. Vectorize this, done?

quick and dirty stretching in a non-vector program just to show that you could easily alter the a in that font to something more similar to the a we're currently using

but being honest at that point why not just use the one we're using
