Toasting a drink to our folk in Midgard, and to those who have now traveled to Valhalla or Fólkvangr.

>People gathered to sacrifice animals, fruits, and vegetables. They also lit bonfires in honor of the dead, to aid them on their journey, and to keep them away from the living.
>Asatru festival called Winter Nights, at which we honored the female ancestors, or Disir.
> it was especially a time of honouring the ancestral spirits, the spirits of the land, the Vanir, and the powers of fruitfulness, wisdom, and death.
>The Winternights feast is also especially seen as a time to celebrate our kinship and friendship with both the living and our earlier forebears. It marks the beginning of the long dark wintertime at which memory becomes more important than foresight, at which old tales are told and great deeds are toasted as we ready ourselves for the spring to come. It is a time to think of accomplishments achieved and those which have yet to be made. Winternights also marks the beginning of a time of indoor work, thought and craftsmanship.
>These festival and feast celebrated the accessibility, veneration, awe, and respect of the dead. This was also a time for contemplation.

"Samhain is the end of the land cycle of birth and growth, the culmination of light and life. A time of open reflection as we look back to our past and give honour to our lineage, but also a period for dreaming of our futures and what we want to truly make of ourselves. It is a time of strongest, palpable spiritual concentration. We hope you enjoy taking the time to experience the eighty minutes of this record: a companion for this turn of the Wheel, and a carefully plotted aural expedition to take you through and beyond the open gates of the Dark Half.

Join us as we once more tread the path of anticipation towards Samhain. As we gather together the pieces to adorn our altars and the memoirs of our ancestors for the night itself, these sounds should be the perfect accompaniment to this momentous and important evening."

Drink in moderation.

http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/havamal.html
A better burden can no man bear on the way than his mother wit: and no worse provision can he carry with him than too deep a draught of ale.

Less good than they say for the sons of men is the drinking oft of ale: for the more they drink, the less can they think and keep a watch o’er their wits.

A bird of Unmindfulness flutters o’er ale feasts, wiling away men’s wits: with the feathers of that fowl I was fettered once in the garths of Gunnlos below.

Drunk was I then, I was over drunk in that crafty Jötun’s court. But best is an ale feast when man is able to call back his wits at once.

Although supposedly Odin only drinks wine.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valhalla
Gangleri asks if Odin himself eats the same food as the Einherjar, and High responds that Odin needs nothing to eat—Odin only consumes wine—and he gives his food to his wolves Geri and Freki.

I'm probably going to have maybe one beer to toast.
Also I'm drinking alone so It would be against my principals to get drunk while alone.
It will be a nice, expensive beer though

"Asatru" can also be understood as an umbrella term for ALL norse germanic folk religions in general, which obviously includes celtic ones too.

*White european pagan

Celtic and Germanic are different things you retard. You're thinking of Anglo-Saxon.

>>8253

No, this is an Asatru board. That's why it's /asatru/. Go away wiccatru faggot.

 No.8294

Oh, I didnt knew you Asatruars celebrated Samhain also, I thought it was only Celtic. Anyways, its no surprise since we share a lot of holydays and traditions.

Well, Here in Galicia, where we had a severe celtic population and a lot of traditions are still alive, Samaín (how we call it here) was still alive and kicking in some places in the country, and after the Democracy in the Spanish state, a lot of groups have been reviving it all over the country. its pretty neat, but it has been bastardized a lot by the American consumerist Halloween, and right now its just an excuse to drink…

Anyways, I will dress myself to avoid the bad spirits, im gonna make some offer to the dead, and then im going to get drunk.

>No, this is an Asatru board. That's why it's /asatru/. Go away wiccatru faggot.

According to rules.html,

/asatru/ is a board for discussion and learning about the pre-Christian spiritual beliefs, folklore and cultural traditions of our ancestors.

Most people here follow Germanic traditions but Celtic ones are not off-topic.

>>8296

>>8256

It is obvious that there are genetic and cultural connections between Celtic and Germanic traditions, but they are not just interchangeable.

To answer OP's question I think a lot of us here will celebrate it at the end of the month and call it something like Winternights.

 No.8301

>>8299

Yeah well that's basically what i was saying but that tardfaggot had to claim that they're two entirely different things not even tangentially related to each other which is obviously just a plain fucking wrong and anti-white assertion overall

Celts are aryo-/indo-germanic in nature
