Is anyone else here english or anglo saxon genetically?

Is our true ancestors the norse pagans or the druidic pagans?

just saw this interesting documentary on the druids and not sure which more of my ancestors belonged to which religion.

fellow Saxon here

If your Anglo-Saxon its unlikely that any of your ancestors worshipped celtic gods, unless one of your ancestors bred with either Welsh Irish or Scottish. Our true ancestors are not the Norse pagans that makes no sense. Asatru is not a scandinavian religion, its is a Germanic one that was once far more widespread than it was in the viking age. And even if you wanted to be a Celtic Pagan their sources are far more tattered than that of germanic paganism and they have also been hijacked by Neo-Pagans and Wiccans and other shit. Its sad what has happened to them but I'm just glad that Asatru isn't such a joke.

yes.

yes.

the historical relationship between germanic and celtic peoples was complex, both in the british isles and on the continent.

but don't worry, you'll sort it out. the indigenous faiths of europe come from within the people. if you are paying attention to the historical sources and following the way of your folk soul you will not be led astray.

Overall, I think the English are such that you could fairly pick to follow the Anglo-Saxon or Brythonic religion. Some parts of the country are more Germanic, some parts are more Brythonic, but ultimately you shouldn't worry about where you're from exactly - you've both sets of blood, pick one. Really, there are no pure Germanic people - they all have Celtic, Slavic and/or Uralic mixture.

It depends where you're from my friend. And even then, each individual case is subject to a great deal of variance.

It is often easier to go by the physical characteristics of your parents and grand parents, as well as their surnames. For example, my family clans are all from areas heavily settled by the Norse and a few family names are Scandinavian derivatives. Likewise we are full of red heads and blondes, with the deepest hair colour being caramel and no cases of brown eyes going back at least 4 generations. That in addition to us all being 6'1 + (myself being 6'7 and my uncle being 7'2) tends to incline me towards a Nordic pagan belief system. Which ever way you go, there is bound to be at least some of each in your line so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Hell, even Icelanders have a considerable Celtic admixture.

Though if you really want fine tuned answers, any reasonable DNA test will provide you with the exact make up of your heritage.

I'd say that "exact" is a bit of an overstatement, but in general it's good enough to glimpse the bigger picture
