I am a college student, and I work at walmart part time. It's not much but I'm supporting myself and that's what's important.
I generally wear jeans and a t-shirt with a metal band–not because of the image but because it's the music I like. Most expensive and carefully chosen piece of my outfit are my shoes, good solid outdoor running shoes. How it appears doesn't matter, to me or, I believe, to asatru. What's important is that I'm always ready to move, my outfit is very practical.
My family is from a rural area but I'm in a city for now to attend school. When I am done with school I plan to spend the first part of my life wandering around, traveling as much as I can to see the world.
I use modern luxuries, but I make a point of not relying on them. It doesn't matter what we use, as long as we don't grow reliant on it, as long as we remember how to handle ourselves without them. I keep camping and survival gear ready to go, and I know how to use it.
I have no kids, I'm only 19. I am engaged, and my fiancee and I plan to wander around together for a long time before we settle down to have kids–probably in Alaska. I'm far from celibate.
I don't really have any ancestral homelands. My ancestors were all wanderers and travelers for many generations back and that's a trend I intend to continue. Something that drew me to this faith to begin with was that Odin is depicted as an old one-eyed wanderer, not some hulking warrior type like the head god of many other old religions. Sure, he can fight bravely when he needs to, but his main purpose was always to wander the world(s) to increase his knowledge and power–and that's exactly the way I want to live.
