Next Sunday (06/21) is the Summer Solstice.

How are you planning to act on it? Are you going to celebrate it on some way? Maybe light a fire? Please tell!

An idea I head:

I know it might sound ridiculous, but maybe we could set a certain time and have a drink together? I bet there are a lot of lone Heathens out there (me included), maybe even more who just quietly lurk here. Basically we'd drink a glass of beer/mead/wine/whatever at the set time, knowing there are some who do the same. I know I'd probably kind of enjoy it. Thoughts?

On a slightly related note, it will also be the St John's Eve, the christianized version of the heathen celebration. It however is, as so many of the good European things, in its core still heathen. So shout out to all other people named in some way after that guy: your name day is on a great heathen festival. Then again I don't know if the name day is also a heathen concept. Anyway we might be (very) indirectly named after Balder. I personally consider that in some way nice.

I need some pro-white folkish heathen candles or something first

Also a drinking thread sounds good

>drinking thread

Sure, why not? I wish I could attend a solstice bonfire gathering of sorts, but it's difficult in the city.

I just found out what happens when you hover over the flags

Underageb& guy here

Is there an alternative to alcohol (I'm not against drinking, I just can't get any)?

I don't have any livestock either so that wouldn't work. What should I do?

Real bread (no processed stuff) and milk are probably your best bet.

Or cut off your hand and spray blood all over your altar like an edgelord

Would also add Honey as well.

What do I do with the food?

I know I would pour out the milk as I would with alcohol (should I do that with the honey too?)

 No.6048

anyone in the 661 area, California? I doubt it but it would be cool :(

Also I did not know the St Johns day was on the Summer Solstice, this is interesting because I know that St Johns wort (a small yellow flower that resembles the sun and is used for healing oils) was originally called Sun Wort. Does St John have anything about him that directly connects him to the sun? Or was this a connection made by the later Germanic Christians and then that connection was lost over time?

>>6046

Leave some on a mound out in the woods or your backyard or something, whatever is available.

>>6040

No shit when I was younger I tried to make a blood offering and almost cut my wrist to the tendon, had to get stitches

At least the gods were probably happy, they got lots and lots of blood

 No.6051

>>6048

I'll try that if I get bread, thanks. By the way I thought you were supposed to do blood offerings with your palm not your wrist

I just came back.

I simply poured some beer on 2 tree stumps. One was broken, withered and slightly away from the path I walked, the other was still strong and right next to my way. I thought it might make some nice symbolism lel. Each time I took a mouthful before I poured some more on the ground. I didn't feel anything out of the ordinary until after walking for 5 meters and stopping again. It felt rather peaceful. The wind was suddenly much less unpleasantly warm and humid and more supportive in some way. It generally felt much more silent somehow. It however didn't last very long, maybe due to other people (out of sight) nearing.

According to the German Wikipedia it was harvested at the Summer Solstice and worn by women and girls as a wreath during the celebrations as a symbol for the sun. The meaning then shifted towards Christian imagery. I guess his birthday was placed there to make the conversion and appropriation easier. Anyway it is nice to know the celebrations didn't really change, too bad it isn't really celebrated anyway. At least where I live.

Happy Midsummer guys!

What I did was make a pile of stones at the base of some trees, then I got milk and 2 pieces of bread. I called upon most of the gods, the land spirits, and the wights, then I poured about 1/3rd of the milk on the stones, and shredded up one of the pieces of bread and put them

on the mound. I chugged the rest of the milk and ate the other piece of bread. I then made vows for the year and asked the gods to watch over my family. In the future I hope to make better sacrifices.

Merry solstice everyone. I did some bird-spotting and had a long westward car ride into the low evening sun.

Had to work today, couldn't do much celebrating.

Regardless, hope you all had a wonderful Midsummer.

I dedicated a horn of pic related to the gods and my father (since it was father's day as well). I placed my mjolnir inside the horn and poured it out at the base of a tree (the beer not the hammer lolz).

>Religion is about respect to nature

Mein sides, trust me Ragnar, you don't want to revert back to matriarchal cults, its the same shit mess that we're in right now.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fertility_rite

>Fertility rites are religious rituals that reenact, either actually or symbolically, sexual acts and/or reproductive processes: 'sexual intoxication is a typical component of the…rites of the various functional gods who control reproduction, whether of man, beast, cattle, or grains of seed'.[1]

>They may alternatively involve the sacrifice of 'a primal animal, which must be sacrificed in the cause of fertility or even creation',[2] while there is evidence that 'prehistoric mother worship in the form of fertility rites is tied to human sacrifice'.[3]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Jakob_Bachofen

>Bachofen's 1861 Das Mutterrecht proposed four phases of cultural evolution which absorbed each other:

>1) Hetaerism: a wild nomadic 'tellurian' [= chthonic or earth-centered] phase, characterised by him as communistic and polyamorous, whose dominant deity he believed to have been an earthy proto Aphrodite.

>2) Das Mutterecht: a matriarchal 'lunar' phase based on agriculture, characterised by him by the emergence of chthonic mystery cults and law. Its dominant deity was an early Demeter according to Bachofen.

>3) The Dionysian: a transitional phase when earlier traditions were masculinised as patriarchy began to emerge. Its dominant deity was the original Dionysos.

>4) The Apollonian: the patriarchal 'solar' phase, in which all trace of the Matriarchal and Dionysian past was eradicated and modern civilisation emerged.

>Why

Because they are larpers and don't actually believe the things they say.

They use "new age" religions as a way of social signaling how progressive and open minded they are.

They also try to use those religions to push degenerate agendas like homosexuality and slutty behavior.

>mfw another ouroborobro

H-hi!

According to the little I read about the subject, the hypotheses of an ancient Mother-cult in Europe are largely fiction, the product of romanticism and some budding feminism in academia. If any existed, they were probably wiped out in an early stage of civilisation on account of how shit women are at maintaining a productive society.
