Hey /asatru/,

I want to follow the way of my ancestors, but there is just one small problem I have: I am mixed. I am half Southern European (Balkan) and half Northern European (Northern Germany). Would I still follow my ancestors if I would worship a Germanic God? I am really in an internal conflict right now and don't know which of my ancestors to follow; I hope someone here could help me.

You're more pure than most of the people who post here. You can choose to follow the gods of either side.

 No.6193

Hardly anyone is purely Germanic anymore, even Germans have a good amount of Celtic and have for a long time, not to mention Slav and Roman blood thats seeped in from invasions.

Decide which gods are for you, study both lineages heavily. I don't normally believe in eclecticism but I feel that honoring both sides of your ancestry is the best situation if you are mixed, otherwise you will hate one while loving the other.

I identify as Germanic and focus on worship of the Germanic gods but I borrow some aesthetic qualities of Celtic culture including some rites and practices because I am almost half Celtic. I am still unsure about worshiping Celtic gods, I have not studied them well enough yet.

Worship both faget

But what if the beliefs of the different cultures contradict each other in certain points?

I don't think Slavic and Germanic paganism conflict or contradict each other on any of the major points, as they both derive from Indo-European paganism. They names for the gods, the mythology, and the observances will differ, at which point you could probably just do what feels right, or mix them to create your own mythology and observances to teach to your children, although I really recommend just picking one.

Its is tradition for a wife to adapt to the husband's culture. So if all else fails, go for your father's side of pagan ancestry.

Define "balkan", it's not a racial category but a geographical one

This is like saying you're "forest" or "mountain"

Are you saying you have dinaric ancestors? In that case congrats, you can worship the ancestral germanic gods without any reservations

>>6210

There is no such thing as a "slavic race/ancestry", especially not on the balkans.

This is pan-slavist supremacist germanophobic mythmaking and falsification of history at its worst.

My mother's ancestors wandered around the Balkans and ended up in Croatia in 1900 or so.

I'm part Italian, so I'd say you're fine. Granted I'm less mixed than you, 75% Germanic and 25% Italian, but I personally still think it's fine as long as you have some significant amount of Germanic blood in you (1/4th or more).

 No.6314

There are so many fucking posts like this. I get tired of seeing "My heritage isn't 100% Germanic what to do?".

half german/half pole here

since I was raised in america and english is my first language I tend towards the germanic side as that's my culture, but I also study rodnovery and make a point to find commonality between both

ie; perun/thor veles/odin

I'd say follow the gods which call to you so long as you aren't a larp faggot with no connection to the gods you claim as your kin

Don't worry too much about the technicalities of your heritage, OP. You don't have to be 101% pure Aryan blonde hair blue eyed perfection to be able to follow the religion of your ancestors.
