Do you believe in the cold tempering, /asatru/? Did our ancestors do it? Do you do it?

I did it a few times while I lived in Alaska. I would strip naked and go run around in the snow when it got somewhat warm (around zero degrees)

Good times

>Do you believe in the cold tempering, /asatru/?
Yes. It's very invigorating. Helps with blood flow, alertness, and building "brown fat" which is a type of fat that helps with regulation of healthy bodyfat levels and a healthy BMI.

>Did our ancestors do it?

Probably.

>Do you do it?

I finish every shower with 1-2 minutes of only cold water. Also, I have access to an outdoor pool that is open year round. This pool isn't heated so it gets quite cold in the winter months. I try to take a dip in this pool a few times a month in the winter.

>Yep

>Considering they are known to have bathed often and much of Scandinavia isn't blessed with hot springs, yes

>Yes

Like another anon, I regularly have cold showers. It's good to mix it up with a really hot shower to begin with to get the blood flowing really well. I also have my own pool where I live, which is not heated and almost always swim in the early hours of the morning and the late evening in winter. Winters here aren't quite as nippy as some of yours I'm sure, but it's enough to get a light layer of ice on the surface I have to break to get through. It's good for your body (as long as you don't stay out too long) and definitley gets you feeling refreshed so I would recommend it to anyone willing

Dunno, but since over a year I start and end my showers as cold as the water gets. For some time I left it it cold, but now I turn it warm to wash myself because it feels cleaner. It was fun first, you actually start to laugh when you leave your shower, but that feeling stopped after a while.

Turning on the cold water however does not get easier, at least not noticeably.

During the summer I do hot/cold treatment. I start with a really hot bath and then get the water as cold as I can and soak. Helps with muscle soreness/pain and it is invigorating. Makes me more alert too. Also keeps me from overheating and sweating a lot.

They are only really good in the winter though. In the summer they are actually very pleasant and not much of a challenge.

Oh, and you will definitely enjoy the first ones. It sounds silly, but you get happy when you leave the shower. I actually started laughing after my first few ones and it seems that this is quite normal.
