Hey /Asatru/.

I'm American, but descended from English, Irish, Welsh, and Portuguese ancestors (though my Portuguese relatives have blue eyes for the most part)

I don't think I have any connection to Scandinavia so what can I follow?

There's a lot on the Internet about Celtic Paganism, but to my knowledge it's infested with SJWs and 'Wiccans' (eugh).

I tried to find something on Iberian folk religions but to no avail. What Wikipedia said was that they were basically Celtic Pagans in pre-Roman times.

So what can I follow that isn't Kike-on-a-stickism?

Sounds like youre pretty much a full Celt. You might have some Roman blood from the Portegeuse, I'm not sure about their history honestly, and you likely have Germanic (anglo saxon) genes from your english side, and even on the English side it's likely your mostly Celtic.

Iberian religion is mostly a dead end, there's a few scraps and bits of info here and there but unfortunately they were all but wiped out by the Romans. I know nothing of it, all I know is that there is little to know.

So your best route would be embracing Celtic or Germanic. Understand that Asatru is a term I don't like using because it usually refers specifically to Icelandic or Nordic Paganism, when it should refer to Germanic Paganism as a whole. Nordic Paganism is just the best preserved version of Germanic myth, so most of us use that as a template of sorts when comparing it to the religions of the other Germanic tribes.

I have no connections to Scandinavia either besides the Saxon genes and a little Norwegian, I mostly focus on my continental Germanic ancestors.

I've been studying Celtic Paganism for a while now but I wouldn't call myself an expert or worshiper of it, I only know a few god-names and practices and artifacts. The main problem of Celtic Paganism is, like you said, the infestation of Wiccans and subsequently the corruptive material they put out.

I wouldn't recommend buying ANY modern books or sources on Celtic history or religion, they're no doubt tainted with either Wiccan bullshit or the general American misconceptions on the Celts (hurr durr Braveheart is so real :DDD)

But if you are truly dedicated none of that shit should matter, when you see Wiccans show them what the real Celts would have really done with them.

So in other words, it's a safe bet to go with Germanic or Celt paganism?

I did some research and I've come to the conclusion that Germanic Paganism would suit me the best. Family names point to Anglo-Saxon origin and the fact that my Portuguese relatives are blue-eyed would indicate Germanic origin.

Sorry if I mis-use terms or am just generally autistic. I'm a bit new to this. I'd really like to follow a native Euro religion, but Asatru focus around the Norse Pantheon and I have no links to the Norse.

Yeah either one would work, since you're Anglo Saxon you should research them a bit first before delving into the other Germanics. It would also be a good idea to study Norse myth first so you understand AS a little better.

And sorry to say so but blue eyes don't really indicate a uniquely Germanic ancestry, the Romans reported that most of the Celts and Gauls had fierce gray and blue eyes. The nomadic Aryan tribes that wandered the Northern Middle-East during the times of Herodotus were described as red-haired and grey-eyed as well. Blue eyes are definitely common among the Germanics but they aren't the only Aryans that carry those genes

>I'm a bit new to this

its all good I was pretty spergy when I first became pagan. You know that pic of the spurdo wearing a Viking helmet and offering a burger sacrifice to Thor? That was me in my first year of Paganism pretty much, only with pizza.

we have no mentors or priests, no fathers to raise us as pagan. We are self taught priests. You must become like Odin and learn to have an obsession for knowledge. This is a religion that follows a now-neglected part of our past, so you'll have to do most of your own reading to truly learn anything.
