So what do guys believe? That a cow named audhumla created the first man by licking a block of ice?

How can any of the old pagan beliefs be brought forward when they're completely contradicting modern science?

Or am I wrong and neo paganism has a different set of gods or a different view of life completely?

Are you a fedora or a Christian? Because a Christian hardly has any right to call our beliefs strange and primitive when you think mankind was formed from dust and women from the ribs of a pile of dust

Also Audhumla didn't create the first man you fucking moron she created the first god, Buri, who them sired Odin, Vili and Ve who founded the Aesir tribe, or the Tribe of the Gods.

And we are not NeoPagans we are re-constructionists, we do not believe making up some new bullshit based on new agey nonsense that is loosely associated with ancient paganism, we believe restoring paganism as well as we can and finding as out as much about it as we can.

And if you actually read the creation myth you would know it has great similarity to the Big Bang. Not everything is to be taken literally, fedora. The myths are primarily symbolic but carry deeper truth in their meanings while the Gods are real beings who are spiritual but have an effect on the physical world.

It's all a metaphor, not to be taken literally. I know some Christians say the same about the old testament when it brings up shit like Eve being created from Adam's rib or that one talking donkey in that one part. The same rule applies here when you read seemingly nonsensical shit like Loki turning into a mare and getting fucked.

Niflheim and Musphelheim colliding? Matter and energy respectively. I even find that part of the creation story similar to the Big Bang in many ways.

How much of the lore is figurative and how much is literal, I myself and not sure of, a more in depth study of the lore would be. I do know that a lot of the sagas themselves have historical significance(Attila being a reoccurring character and whatnot).

A good example of this school of thought regarding paganism would be something like this video.
