To be considered white, I believe that one should be of majority European descent and have key European physical characteristics. North European descent and characteristics are preferable.
Western European Celts are so similar to Germanics nowadays that any mixing between the two probably wouldn't have any negative effects, although sticking to your own is always preferable to all races.
The push for purity is a recurring reaction every time some new universalist despot tries to erase a race that he is jealous of. Ever since the most recent ice age, the white race has been going through increasing events of jeopardy. The Roman Empire brought the different races of the Mediterranean together under one society and race mixed so hard that the brown latin people came into existence, they genocided the vast majority of french Gauls, and tried to do the same to the Germans, then they converted to christianity and destroyed every pagan temple within their reach. The muslim moors invaded Iberia and tried to eliminate the native whites. Charlemagne conquered and enslaved the Saxons, then threatened to import vast amounts of arabs and jews into Saxony if Widukind didn't stop rebelling. The ottoman turks invaded southeast Europe and stayed there racemixing and making all the Greeks brown, then tried to do the same to Austria. WWI, led by the jewish bankers of the west, saw millions of whites murdered over nothing. The soviet union murdered millions of Ukrainians for resisting communism, then imported thousands of siberian mongoloids in to punish them. The Allies in WW2 were notorious for raping women in every country they "liberated". Then we have the white farm owners of zimbabwe being forcibly expelled and harassed off their land at gunpoint most recently.
The push for racial purity has always existed, because the destruction of the Europeans has always been someones goal in history, purposeful or not.
I personally don't care if someone is 1% white or 15%, as long as they have all the distinctive characteristics, and don't carry any negative ones from racemixing. Yes we need more white people, but taking in brown skinned people with 10% Irish heritage who want to be a viking "cuz its cool lol" doesn't help in the slightest. We need REAL white people, everyone else would be a long term loss for asatru.
Your friend who is a little bit Mexican should not practice asatru unless he is of majority Germanic or Nordic descent, and looks and acts the part too. Asatru is not a universalist religion, we will not take in anybody who wants to join. If your friend is really interested, he should find a folkish pagan/animism-derived religion relevant to his race and heritage if he's not Germanic or Nordic.
Not to be condescending, but if you legitimately believe that anyone who acts white and wants to join can be asatru, then you are about as useful as an SJW or redditor.
