what the fuck do we do about the brythons? their native religion has been almost completely wiped out, not only by christianity, but by the romans also. should they adopt gaelic religion, as west germanics adopt north germanic religion?

>christians

bro, they were wiped out by the pagan angles and saxons.

they were already christian at this point you dumbfuck, christianity had been slowly eroding the british culture for a while now.

the ones who really fucked them up though were the romans. the pagan saxons you speak of did little to destroy british paganism, because it was barely even existent by then

Is there any version of their faith left that isn't wicca? Wicca is pozzed to such a degree that I'd dare posit the average atheist is carrying less universalist postmodern baggage than the average wiccan… So, if that is their only option then I am not sure what to tell them other than that I truly pity them.

Perhaps a core of celtic anons could really dig deep, make a modern-day society a la the thulegesellshaft that researches/divinates the past and then come up with an alternative? All they need is a direct connection to the divine source of their blood and the rest can be revealed to them.

Gaelic mythology is extremely well preserved, about as well preserved as norse myth. It's just not well known to outsiders as norse myth is. British myth however (welsh, cornish and breton) has been completely fucked over, not only by the christians, but also by the english and by the romans. this is why i proposed they should follow gaelic religion, as many west germanic follow north germanic religion today.

Well I'm confused, because aren't the natives of breton and albion as a whole also celtic? What distinction between the folklore of a gael and the folklore of a briton or breton is there?

I'm speaking halfway on ignorance since any reading I've done on the celts is casual as a result of a general interest in all my fellow pagans but I was always under the impression before the roman and saxon invasions there was little distinction in the celt from Connacht, the celt from Icenia, The celt from Cyrmu, the celt from…

Coupled with the modern research that all the invaders generally were just an aristocratic class who had little effect on the genetics of the locals so any belief that the modern englishman isn't virtually as celtic today as he was in pre-roman times is pretension on the part of the english and villification on the part of their neighbors I've gathered the distinct notion that it's all the same.

Feel free to correct me though as my wheelhouse is really just our own mythology and to a dsecondary degree the greco-romans.

Out of curiosity, what sources/texts/archaeological finds/etc. are left of the original Brython religion in the first place?

Native brit here, just found this board, can confirm our faith is completely fucked, anyone that's serious is either Christian or Muslim.

There are a couple of wiccan communities up and down the country that seem okay, in that they are somewhat serious about the faith and not just in it to seem edgy / be deviant, but i cant personally confirm it.

Technically speaking, most brits would probably put 'Christian' if pressed on the issue, simply because it's values are so embedded in our country at this point, rather than any actual belief in the faith.

>Wicca

I'm so sorry to hear that. I think in that other celtic thread they're talking about making a counter-wicca pagan reconstruction of the "religion of the blood" nativist sort. Might wanna check that out.

Actually, while there are differences between Gaels and Brythons, and while their separate denominations of a "greater Celtic faith" are further apart than say Anglo-Saxon paganism and Norse paganism, there is still a lot that is shared.

Including a plethora of deities, seasonal holidays and of course the traditional social structure of the Celts, which involved the druids holding a variety of roles in society, in addition to being religious figures for their faith. Many gods are the same and have cultural differences unique to the distinct peoples.

I can't give you super detailed answers, but I'm a Canadian of Celtic descent and I've been reading a variety of really good books and sources to determine ways to actively practice the ancient Celtic pantheon, but admittedly its hard as fuck.

Oh, and if you want an actual text about the laws of Brythonic society, which revolved around Brythonic religion, look for "Dda's Law". It's essentially the Brythonic version of Brehon Law, the Gaelic text.

I've already read bits of Brehon Law. It's great stuff. We can legitimately decipher the moral and ethical codes of the faith, and see how they were applied in ancient times.
