Maybe incontrovertible messages in the sky, broadcast materialization of said god and accompanying messages, explanations, interviews.

Okay, a few points that might set me on the path towards worship.

0) Physically exist. I'm not going to waste my time with dubious abstract concepts.

1) Do away with the eternal suffering as a punishment for failure to worship. I could not, in good conscience, sing the praises of a being so cruel.

2) Do something awesome once in a while. Sparking a universe billions of years ago is nice, but I can give no more worship for that than I do for my parents giving me life and a place to live. My parents are actually ahead in this way, because they at least haven't been absent for my entire life.

3) No seriously, do something. Though there is kind of a nasty catch here in the morality of answering prayers; alleviating the suffering of those who ask for it and ignoring the suffering of anyone who is incapable of asking, does not ask, or asks in the wrong way. There's also the issue of intervention leading to stagnation; no need to learn about and practice medicine, God's got us covered. No need to worry about food or shelter, God feeds the hungry and houses the homeless. Let's all just live the NEET life. However, if your answer to the problem of stagnation is providing any assistance whatsoever (Beyond some very questionable "mysterious ways"), then you're not actually doing anything for anyone, so why would I bother to worship you at all? I'd sooner worship the people who handle the emergency services.

4) Bring back cults. I'm talking high fantasy shit here. Perform this ritual, receive this blessing. If prayer shrouded in mysticism had tangible benefits, the right package might get me on board.

5) Break down the montheistic God into several deities of various things. It's easier to put aside the problem of a loving, all-powerful god permitting suffering if instead there were numerous gods of limited capability. How about a god of good fortune in your travels, who will listen to prayers and grant what blessing and protection he can to those who ask and need it most. That, I find to be a much more comfortable proposition.

For one it has to exist. The other important thing is there has to be a good reason to worship it, like it's a truly omnibenevolent being and it needs psychic energy or something. Any god that demands worship for the sake of it is not just beneath worship; they're beneath contempt.
