>Iceland seems to be on its way to becoming an even more secular nation, according to a new poll. Less than half of Icelanders claim they are religious and more than 40% of young Icelanders identify as atheist. Remarkably the poll failed to find young Icelanders who accept the creation story of the Bible. 93.9% of Icelanders younger than 25 believed the world was created in the big bang, 6.1% either had no opinion or thought it had come into existence through some other means and 0.0% believed it had been created by God.

And yet many of them still believe in little people, i.e. "elves." Superstition dies hard.

More young people probably nominally worship Sumerian gods to protest than Yahweh, to protest taxes going to the church.

Oh no. A peaceful atheist republic is forming.

Quick send them thousands of Muslims.

and good news, they're all under the age of 25, male and ready to pump up your rape statistics as well.

Nice. I hope it doesn't get replaced with some new age nonsense or cults. These numbers don't say anything about the scientific literacy. Imho you have to know the systems behind religions to know it's evil. The cancer can come back any time.

Once most people agree the old religions are BS, it should be easier to say "Can you believe people believed that mystical crap for thousands of years," when attacking the newest quackery. At least as long as they know as much about Abrahamic religions as we do today.

I personally know some non-believers who turned to healing channeling and similar crap. The problem is some people are attracted to easy answers and not learning critical thinking skills make them weak against nice sounding bullshit. Truth can be counter intuitive so you have to take effort to stay on the side of reason.

But channeling spirits is not.

Indeed, muh occam's razor says mysticism makes more sense you over educated eggheads! Keep worshipping science!

The Placebo effect is convincing. "It helped me"is easier to get than you HAVE to do randomized double blinded tests. Intuition or anecdotal evidence isn't something you can use to prove anything. Once channeling "helped" you with your

insomnia then it's hard to convince you otherwise.

For those who don't know, Iceland is one of the most inbred countries in the world. The average Icelander has a phone app they use when they want to date someone to tell them if they're related. I bet Icelanders are pretty attracted to foreigners. This news has just bumped up Iceland on my list of places I want to visit.

>inbred

This is auch an ugly word. They are pure bred snow niggers.

Hm. I did a presentation on Iceland for a tourism class, and it doesn't seem like a great place to live, and an expensive place to live. Terrible food, depressed hicks, not a lot of culture, but lots of boredom. Not much to see on that island either except geological formations, but 6 years later they still send snail mail inviting me to visit Iceland. They must be desperate.
