So astronomers found hundreds of new galaxies the other day hidden behind the dust of the milky way, further indicating that Earth isn't in a special part of the universe. But I love how Theists marvel at how we seem to be at the center of the universe because stars go in all directions. They don't understand that's the center of the observable universe, not the universe. There would be a similar feeling while looking out at the stars from any other place in the universe, and we don't know whether there are stars even further out, because from where we are we cannot see what we cannot see.

>Theists worship a higher power

>Atheists worship their own smug sense of superiority

Who's really the one who thinks they're the center of the universe?

>tfw can't decide between studying maths and astrophysics

Maybe if string theorist got their shit together their could be more use of mathematicians in cosmology

really?

do we still have geocentrist (i.e. the original) theists in the 21st century?

Yep, some of them draw from Christian websites on the web to say things like "if the Earth was in a nearby dust cloud we wouldn't be able to see so many stars." (God must think we deserved a special view to see the heavens he hath made.) They resent being told it's geocentric model 2.0, so we should humor them by calling it a sol-centric model of the universe, or a milky-way centric model.

And now we have more evidence of black holes, and a method for detecting gravity waves. The universe is about to appear even bigger and more complicated.

Human took themselves way to serious and religion reflects that.

>made in the image of god

>We rules the earth

"Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."

>the earth was made for us

The earth is less than a single grain of sand in a desert but somehow it's the only place that matters because we are there.

Still theists. Atheists willingly admit that not even the Milky Way galaxy is the center of the universe let alone the Earth and mankind. Try again.

There's people who think the Earth is flat.

They drew these constellations on the pavement at the cathedral, supposedly these were vewable on the day the church was errected. Except it is in Loq3s Angeles so only satelites and planes would be visible with all of the pollution. Any science or stars are out of place at a church, like reading a physics book at church.
