Recently I experienced occasions of respects towards people's religious views despite considering myself to be an educated and shepherdless individual free from the shackles of dogmatic indoctrination. May I in the end just be one of them, one of the inferior kin begging for guidance by imaginary masters?

Sometimes things in religion can spark some positive emotion. A masterful painting, lovely music, etc.

Though if you're feeling good about other people's religious views, try asking yourself what it is about your situation and what you might think of things that make those views seem good? What is about them that's appealing and why?

Having respect towards people's religious views and being an atheist is not mutually exclusive. If atheists aren't, usually it's a mode of defense or sometimes you have people that just don't respect people's views no matter what side they're on.

That said, views need to be respectable to garner respect. That's something earned. Theists deserve some respect just by being human, it doesn't necessarily mean you should respect their beliefs if they're possibly malicious to you and/or others.

Just remember that when people dont have modernized healthcare or a stocked supermarket theyll use whatever excuse they can to pillage, rape, and crucify. Cause thats all religion is ,an excuse. someone to forgive all the horrible shit you do, and someone to listen to you whine about the superbowl and feel good about it and someone to tell you to go kill another person for his stuff or because he made you angry.

So im not really raging on religion here because religion is just a product of people, and people are shit. So dont eat what ideological bullshit comes out of peoples asses, mainly religion.
