To what degree should professors and teachers be allowed to speak their mind and share their views, on religion or in general?

If you go around calling all Christians and Muslims a bunch of dumb fucks don't be surprised if people want to get you kicked out. Other than that a professors should be allowed to say what he wants provided that it doesn't conflict with the course content.

Teachers are supposed to teach. They are not supposed to abuse their students for dumpsters of their shitty opinion. I always disliked this type of teacher that would go around using his students as audience or therapy group.

Well I was interested in hearing a little about my professors' opinions and life experiences, and knowing more than what they could share from a text book. They are seldom know-nothing/never left my hometown blue collar types, and might have some useful experiences or hard-won views to share. I would have liked to have known which of the quiet ones leaned left or right, and which ones were (not) religious. Your views probably do affect how you unconciously present information.
