It's what I expected. On average, pornstars have a higher IQ than the general population, and they tend to be atheists.

Different anon, I can only speak based on intuition and a small handful of interviews that I probably couldn't find right now for the life of me, but my impression has always been that (particularly for female performers) it's a tossup between atheism, New Age spiritual stuff, and the sort of 21st century lay interpretation of Christianity that says "Nah, it's all about love! All those other moral stances aren't as important as being good to your neighbor."

As far as evidence to the contrary, I have none (I would consider stuff like surveys on religiosity, IQ or education level), but my impression is that pornstars usually have their heads on straight because the bullshit they get from haters has taught them not to think with emotions. That or they're like you were describing, and seem very sheltered.
