But I would not destroy or accept any piece of history to be destroyed. That is just censoring history. An ancient idol is not harming you or anyone in any way, people need to change, and this won't be acomplished through destroying important pieces of history.

Assyrians belonging to Syriac, Catholic or Orthodox Churches still live in Syria and Iraq, also parts of Turkey and Iran.
