New to this board and want to know the rules? Have a question for atheists? Then you should probably read the FAQ (Updated: 3/19/15). It's not necessary, but don't be surprised if people ignore you if you don't elaborate further on a question already answered here, or the moderator does something you didn't expect.

Hey guys /Christian/ here.

I'm known on /Christian/ as being a Marxist, and rejecting Christian imagery as idolatry.

I'm a leftist, I'm rational (have a degree In philosophy, history, political science and PhD in Neurobiology.)

I accept evolution, I accept all science and believe the ultimate authority is reason… Secondly, the bible.

I'm non denominational and an ex-Orthodox Jew

Feel free to ask any questions.

Sure, why did you not bother to explain your position further?

I prostrate I'm prayer as did the prophets and Christ, in the fashion of Nehemiah.

Ask any questions and you'll discover my position

Why are you a Christian and exactly do you personally mean by Christian?

The only major distinction is Christinsanity's worshiped jew died on a stick.

>That according to the Bible, no Christian is entitled to hold any property whatever exclusively for himself; that community of property is the only proper state for a society of Christians; that it is not allowed to any good Christian to have any authority or command over other Christians, nor to hold any office of government or hereditary power, but on the contrary, that, as all men are equal before God, so they ought to be on earth also.

>Frederick Engels: Progress of Social Reform On the Continent

>All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.

>Acts 4: 32-35

I've seen that bit from Acts before and I'm not convinced. It seems to just be describing something that was done once not saying "this is the way things should always be for all of society, nothing else is valid".

Also
>that, as all men are equal before God, so they ought to be on earth also
I really doubt the Bible says anything like this.

The apostles and followers lived that way according to the Bible. You need to look at the context of what is being said, there is nothing more Christian than following in Jesus's footsteps.

>I really doubt the Bible says anything like this.

Engels knew his scripture.
>You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you".[Mt 20:25–26a] [Mk 10:42] [Lk 22:25]

Why not just drop the bible if it is trumped by reason?

That's quite a path. So I take it you you got an associates in philosophy, a bachelors in history, a masters in pollitical science, and then were admitted to study nerobiology at medical school. If only more people could be like you. May I ask how did you finance your middle school fantasy of eternal education at the highest levels?

How leftist?

af0e0a No.5584

You genuinely believe in some sort of entity greater than ourselves, watching and judging us, who played a definite part in the creation of this world?

f8720b No.5648

Why are you a leftist?
Are you an ashkenazi jew?
Were you born in Judaism, or with a Secular education?
Are you.. part of the tribe? A zionist? Are you a professor?
I do believe the ultimate authority is reason, but then I don't understand how can you be christian.

what's your definition of rational?

do you ascribe to the metaphysical view that reason is the substance of reality and that it is immaterial and more important than matter as most rationalist philosophers thought centuries ago?

why do you think christianity is more rational than deism or islam?
