84cee1 No.4709
I'm gonna try setting up a new system for the sake of not only moderator transparency, but for moderation improvement and criticism.
PUBLIC BOARD ACTION LOG:
https://8ch.net/log.php?page=1&board=atheismPUBLIC BAN LOG:
http://8ch.net/bans.html type in "atheism" without any "/"s or you wont see all the bans I've issued.
Along with the board action log being public, I will begin to screencap every post I delete, edit, or ban someone for and give a reason in text for why I did that until Hotwheels updates the public log feature with all these things. I can't promise I can effectively do this in an incident where we get spammed, but I'll at least handle it in a way where you get the point. Alongside these posts, you can respond, voicing your criticisms or whatever you want to say. This way I can improve my moderation. I'll start this thread by posting what few screencaps I have and explaining some bans and deletions I did without screencapping. Once I've cycled through my images I'll start editing the new ones by also putting a screencap of the log event under or above them.
>Why rorschach?Have no clue. Hotwheels gave me the name when I reclaimed this board. I've never actually read The Watchmen. Will eventually, but it's on my backlog. Not too big on Western Comics.

First one I have is from a month or so ago I believe.
ACTION: Delete Post
REASON: Obvious shitpost.

The next one was from when some /int/ posters dropped by to sage spam an old thread to reach our 3000 get.
ACTION: Ban the group for a week, delete their spam posts, but leave their get thread up.
REASON: Spamming to receive a get.

Really tired. I'll continue this tomorrow.

>>4712There was something I loved about the old /tg/, before 4chan mods decided it was their job to police what was fun and what wasn't. It was their sheer immunity to all trolling efforts. If someone from outside of /tg/ tried to bait or troll them, they just took a shitty thread and made it their own. Writefags would make a story or campaign idea out of the OP, or they would stat the OP or the content of his image in their game of choice, or they would find some other way to discuss some tangential aspect of the post to make it interesting to /tg/. The regularity with which those guys could take over an attempted troll thread was always amazing to me, and it demonstrated the power that a good user base could exert over trolls and shitposters, given a free enough hand to act on their own without policing. Unfortunately, that ended when janitors and mods started getting more active about deleting posts they didn't like, which encouraged reportfags to report threads and posts that made them mad rather than hijack them.
I think users should be allowed an opportunity to make lemonade out of lemons. In the worst case, threads like that get maybe one or two replies before dying off of natural causes.
>>4713I've never understood anon's pathological obsession with GET grabbing, but shitfloods are one of the only things that board users simply cannot do anything about on their own. I fully support lengthy bans for shitflooders, regardless of their reason for doing it.

Can you please enable IDs already…
84cee1 No.5143
Sorry for the unreasonable wait.
Anyways where I left off: This was also obvious shitposting. But at this point I kindof wonder if it's really fair to delete this post. When deleted the foxhole one, I enforced this role of deleting any shitpost really short shitpost. But I kindof let the atheist ones slide because people liked those threads. But I feel like
>>4860 is probably right and deleting these is a possible double standard, yet other people don't seem to want threads like this. I'm going to address all of this very soon.

Occasionally, I've gotten suggestions similar to
>>4860 . Seeing as how my original stance was deleting short shitpost threads, I eventually loosened that to short zero effort bait threads and left silly nonbait threads alone. However people like this guy raise a point: This isn't really fair, and boils down to what I see as bait shitposting.
So I did a little experiment and left some things up to self moderation. While things were okay at first unfortunately it didn't work out so well, and after this period within 2 day's more of these people came in. The experiment was aborted. Sorry guys, I really don't want to see this board turn into how it used to be before I took over, with zero effort baitposts flooding the board.
>>5644That's understandable, but keep in mind that ID's are on a 1-2 week trial status. I intended to give people several days to vote on this trial status thing on a thread I stickied not long ago
>>5147 , but shit was hitting the fan so I limited it to 1 whole day. That was probably a bad move on my part. I wrongfully assumed everyone had seen this thread, and figured by unstickying it people would see the verdict. I figured most people here were sick of me posting sticky posts every week. Clearly as demonstrated by you 3 talking about it here that was the wrong move, and I will at least fix this.
I really hope most of us can at least somewhat come to an agreement on ID's and whatnot. Hopefully with deleting threads like these, at the very least shitposters will actually get off their ass, and at the most make something amazing as the legendary TL;DR "I was an atheist but you guys have no power without believing in god here look at this conspiracy theorist shit" >55

>>5693There is still no identity to attack moron, just a string of different bound by randomly generated digits & numbers. You admit you don't know why it attracts shitposters and the simple reason for that is an unfulfilled conclusion on the basis of only your own perception as weak evidence. Stop spreading FUD. IDs aren't your fucking IP address or even your own made-up name. You're still JUST AS anonymous as ever.
2454ec No.6747
>>6481If you're trolling to make the point that IDs can be reset, it is still the extra trouble that matters to me. IPs can be reset too with little work. Still, takes a reconnect and the tiniest bit of tech savvy. I made one other post in this thread many days ago and the ID is still the same.
By the way, with IDs off you wouldn't be able to tell I double posted. Hell, you would have no chance to be able to tell if a whole thread is just one person arguing with themselves during a mod's blind hour. But at least it works sometimes and most of all it helps anons actually participating and paying to each other's ideas as more develops in a thread. And isn't that what we want, at least those of us that want to get the most out of this board intellectually?

It was a stupid question that hinged on the false premise that Atheism as a whole is an ideology that aims to destroy Christianity.
We could go further, but like I said. It's a stupid question and doesn't really dignify a lengthy response.
As a troll post it most definitely succeeded though.

Nah it's good. The moderation here is intentionally a bit lax. Even if most people on here wanted stuff to be more strict, that would just encourage these people even further. To be fair, there is kindof a cycle here. Atheists argue and troll/shitpost occasionally on christian, christians sometimes see even the arguing as trolling and they come and shitpost on here. If I'm wrong, I doubt im too far off.

You think ID tags help debate but they don't.
Anyone that actually wants to spam internet boards and shill uses a cheap or free VPN and the real shitposters will know at least one way to go around any bans you do.
On the other hand it makes people that want to be anonymous shy away from the board.
It isn't a real option for small boards, think about removing it.

Whatever you do don't listen to this faggot, IDs are good. You can try resetting your IP all you want when you debate, but it's clear that someone is doing this when the original guy who you were talking too isn't around anymore, and the second, and the third.
15 different IDs will make it look like there is one person changing IDs if you actually asked someone questions and debated with him and he is not present anymore, because he hanged his IP. Fuck you.

If I can make a suggestion BO.
Try world filtering some of the words in the brown pill spam.
1) It might provide some humour to read about bibles instead of pill's for example.
2) It will force the spamer to come with new words to try and convey the same meaning.

This board's moderation is superb, because you can actually identify idiots who don't check sources as "idiots" without being banned in the name of "civility."
