You're right, there's no external reason to be moral (except punishment for crimes though law and morality aren't mutually inclusive). Morality should be internal. Normally humans have an instinct to avoid hurting other humans, it's simply compelling to be a good person and it's also compelling to be accepted in a group and being moral usually helps.
Are asking us to convince you to be moral? Probably none of us can.
Are you saying that it's a flaw of atheism that it doesn't enforce morality?

I used to say the same when I was in grade school. Now that I'm an adult and atheist, I've realized life is worth living for and it's worth treating well. Morality and religion are mutually exclusive.

You can't choose to be an atheist, a christian, etc. Belief isn't a choice. I can tell you to believe in Santa and you can say yes but it's not true belief or faith. You can't believe unless you've become convinced to believe. But to "become" something for which requires belief, you research it.

The question doesn't seem very meaningful. The hypothesis and the conclusion are totally unrelated.
Have you ever read about real ethics? There are dozens of ethical systems spanning centuries, and none of them requires religion. The idea that morality comes from god was in fact fabricated by Abrahamic religions. People, mostly religious people, lived normally for milennia without requiring that ethics was commanded by a god, and there's no evidence that the appearance of ethically-concerned theisms like judaism, christianity or islam actually improved human life and behavior.
