I'm gonna be honest here, Anon. I used to be heavily into the Paranormal scene.
I looked for ghosts, I read the bullshit books of some of these people spewed out, I used to go to http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/ and debate with other like-minded people over whether or not a photograph of an ape was really Bigfoot or not. Most embarrassing of all, I'd watch shows like Ghost Hunters and defend their honor with religious fervor.
I guess this was my religion for me. I was never really religious myself (I didn't like church, I thought the Bible was kind of bullshit, etc.), but I pretty much treated the paranormal like one. I genuinely thought there were ghosts, demons, elementals, and I shit you not, fucking Bigfoot out there. I used to theorize that the Mothman was some sort of demon capable of seeing different visions of the future. But I digress…
Before I gave up the whole paranormal scene altogether, I would defend the shit out of certain shows - Namely Ghost Hunters. From every moving chair to weird light effect, I'd jump to Grant and Jason's defense.
But not too long after I started actually identifying as an atheist, I decided to watch some Ghost Hunters. I thought "Hey, it may be funny." I was under the naive impression that these guys probably did believe they were seeing ghosts or something. I was wrong. I fucking hate these guys. Literally everything was fucking obvious, but they played it off like "eh, ghosts." Some was obviously staged.
Not only that, but they tried to hide behind the "skeptic" line of thought, as if they were looking at any of this shit critically. I got angry at myself for falling for this shit for long, and bad for the people who still do.
I still have the first three seasons - It's gotten covered and surrounded by other, more legit and science related content. I don't know why I haven't just dumped any of that shit in the garbage yet. Maybe it's because I actually paid for it, I don't know.

>it's just some kook on the internet
I'd like to believe that too, Anon. Unfortunately, this dude has probably made a fortune on his woo.
